Michael Jackson – The Immortal World Tour is a living tribute to pop legend Michael Jackson that brings the energy and magic of his three, world solo tours, back to the stage in a unique and wonderful way.

Michael Jackson is known the world over for his accomplished, lifelong musical career. From his start as a young child in the Jackson Five, to his enormous success as a solo pop star, Jackson imagined, created and performed like nobody else. His three live solo tours, The Bad World Tour, The Dangerous World Tour and The History World Tour were epic, larger than life concerts performed for millions of fans worldwide. These solo tours epitomized what an astonishing entertainer he really was. In an attempt to capture the sheer magnitude and imagination of these performances, as well as the legacy of the music of Michael Jackson, Cirque du Soleil and the estate of the late Michael Jackson have joined together to create a show that immortalizes the King of Pop.

Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson – The Immortal World Tour made its premier in Montreal, Canada on October 2, 2011 and has been going strong ever since. When the tour ends it will have visited approximately 50 cities in the United States and Canada. Reviews thus far describe a feeling of experiencing a live Michael Jackson concert, even though he is no longer there. Audiences seem to feel an overwhelming sense of tribute to the man and his music, while also feeling like he is still very much a part of the performance. One common theme to the reviews of the Immortal World Tour is a new understanding of just how big Michael Jackson was and still is, and the impact he made as an entertainer.

Writer and Director Jamie King and Director of Creation, Chantal Tremblay have worked to create a magical place where Michael Jackson’s love of music and fantasy can come together with the mystical performers of Cirque du Soleil. With elaborate costume design by Zaldy Goco, the renowned New York designer, who has created looks for Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce, just to name a few, this show is sure to be a visual wonder. As anyone who has seen a Cirque du Soleil performance can tell you, it will be full of surprises, excitement and beauty to stimulate all of the senses. Hello John.
Thank you for your comments. I appreciate the input.

I must admit have mixed feelings about the show. Look for a review coming soon where will go a bit more into detail. I agree with you regarding the lack of hits. Although my guest at the show disagreed. I personally would have liked less of the medleys, and more of full song performances. The theme was to be centered around the 3 solo tours that Michael did, and I suppose this is why some of those songs were chosen. I am not sure which night you attended, but I can speak to some technical difficulties on Friday night as well. We were seated behind the production area, and for about 80% of the show, it was entirely too loud. The sound proved to be a bit of a distraction for us. However, I can’t say there wasn’t anything good to see. I enjoyed several parts of the performance. The song Human Nature with the shooting stars and LED lighted costumes in the air, was probably my favorite part.

Save your money. Seen 2 Cirque du Soleil
shows in the past that were fantastic. The opening of the Michael Jackson Immortal Tour was slow and silly. The Russian dude in the sparkly outfit really tried to dance, but was not that great. I have seen better in street dancers. The guy dressed as a monkey was an insult at best. Very few of Michael’s well known songs played. Circque du Soleil dancers are NOT tranined RB dancers and could not come close to duplicating Michaels moves. Lots of problems technically. 4 of the many red hearts did not light up. 2 of the performers on the trapeeze did not light up. Off stage bangs and choppy choreography. Certainly not to Michael’s standards. The tribute was heartfelt, but the audience was clapping for Michael not the performers. What I would love to see is for Michael’s hand picked dancers that he trained to do a tribute to him. Now that I would pay to see. Luckily these were free tickets from a friend, otherwise I would have demanded my money back. 5% of the audience left after intermission. Cirque needs to stick with what they do best and leave Michaels dancers to do his own tribute show. Not worth the money people.
