Sitting Twist Yoga Pose Instructions
This sitting twist is a great pose for addressing tight hips and a sore back.
1. Begin in staff pose with legs outstretched in front of you. Then pick up the right foot and place it on the outside of your left thigh. For a deeper hip stretch, draw this foot closer to the hip. If it feels too intense, allow the foot to slide closer to the knee.
2. Take a deep inhale. On a slow exhale, twist from the waist toward your left. Bring the right arm on the inside of your right leg. Look behind you.
3. Uncoil your torso and twist to the right. Remember to twist from the waist with a long spine to protect your back. Wrap the left arm around your right leg. Look behind you and breathe deeply. Rather than forcing yourself into the twist, use the breath as a tool to help you release into it.
