Phish just announced a 3 night run of concerts taking place in Mexico in Jan 2016. I wanted to let everyone know a few of the reasons WHY you should plan on attending Phish in Mexico..
#1 Surf – Even if the surf is small (this is Cancun after all) you can always try your hand or better yet breaking yourself off while riding the Flowrider at Barcelo Maya. This surfing simulator is perfect for learning balance and is actually more like snowboarding on a powder day, lean back and brace yourself when you fall. Once you master this “wave” you can go rent a 10 foot boogie board and get rad in the ocean.
#2 Montezuma’s Revenge – Ah traveling in countries south of the United States is great for people with a strong stomach. My advise, only drink bottled water *duh, pay attention to the road side vendors you plan on dinning with, are there hands clean, are there lots of fly’s present? However it looks like all the packages are “all-inclusive” so if you stick to eating 3 meals a day at the resort (or 1) you should be fine, but what fun is that?
#3 Tequila aka Mexican Cousin (see #2) – When you combine foreign foods, questionable water and heavy doses (not those kind) of Tequila to the mix, well you may just find yourself praying to the porcelain god. I wouldn’t wish this upon anyone, not even my,… well I won’t go there. Pay attention to what you put in your belly and mind while down in Mexico, or you may end up in bed or in a hearse, getting sick or loosing your sh*t in a foreign country can’t be fun.
#4 Customs – If you think flying around the country to see Phish is rad, or driving from state to state, try upping your game by flying through Customs for a Phish show. Now odds are going to the concerts will be a breeze, if you’re an idiot you may find yourself talking to customs and immigration down in Mexico. And if you are really messed up in the brain and decide to come back to the states with anything in your pockets or stuffed into your socks, well LAX and most international airports tend to know whats up. Tread lightly folks.
Need a break from the pschy madness? Widespread Panic will also be in Mexico.
Still interested? I sure am, now the question becomes what do you think your odds of booking one of the 2,825 rooms available is….
