Fans Eagerly Await New James Taylor Tour

Iconic folk troubadour James Taylor recently completed his European and American tours. The artist is now in the studio working on an album of new material. Although Taylor has indicated the album may be ready for release as early as October, 2012, that estimate may be a little optimistic.

Although there is no tour scheduled yet to support the new album’s release, he will be performing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on October 4. The concert is a benefit for the Children’s Health Fund. It will feature numerous performers. Paul Simon, Edie Brickell, Tina Fey, Tom Hanks and Stevie Wonder are all scheduled to appear, with other surprise guest also possible.

A release sometime in 2013 is perhaps more realistic. Fans will be glad to hear James Taylor tickets are available for the 25th anniversary concert.

Taylor, 64, has been a musical household name since his breakout hit “Fire and Rain” in 1970. His new album is rumored to touch on common Taylor themes of love and the challenges of living on the road. At least one song may have a more political theme, according to interviews Taylor gave in Spain on his recent tour. There will be songs about the Afghanistan conflict, the Red Sox and his gratitude for sobriety. Other rumored themes include love poems and joy in life. Taylor also indicated in the interviews that one song was inspired by Canadian carnival music. He indicated he has at least nine tunes ready to record.

When Taylor does hit the road, he will most likely play the new material as well as a wide selection of his past hits. On his recent tour, the four most-played songs were “Sweet Baby James,” “Carolina in My Mind,” “Fire and Rain,” and “Country Road.” Other songs that received heavy play were “Your Smiling Face,” “Mexico,” “Something in the Way She Moves,” and “You’ve Got a Friend.”

Taylor has always been known for his professionalism and respect for his fans. This was amply illustrated on the tour. The final show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado had a one-hour rain delay between sets. After waiting out the storm, Taylor played for another hour plus encores for the fans who hung around.

Unlike some musicians of Taylor’s vintage, his voice is as smooth and strong as ever. He peppered anecdotes about how the songs came to be written in between numbers. Taylor still enjoys an amazing rapport with his audience, and seemed to genuinely appreciate the crowd’s enthusiasm for his art.
Taylor’s has received numerous awards throughout his illustrious career. The five-time Grammy award winner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000. He joined the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2010. He holds honorary doctorates of music from Berklee College of Music and Williams College.

James Taylor fans are eagerly awaiting the pending release of his new album and James Taylor tickets. A supporting tour will likely be another huge success.
