GoLite VO24 Backpack Review
The GoLite VO24 pack is sleek, lightweight and just the right size for a daypack. It has padding on the shoulder straps and along the back and waist; the pack is comfortable, lightweight and well designed. There is plenty of room to store things and there is even an area for a laptop, important documents or a hydration bladder, this is a great feature. The pack has compression straps and bungee cords to tighten the pack as well as cinch down a rain jacket or other items.
1 lb 5 oz/610 grams – The first thing you will notice about this pack is how light the pack is. I was astonished the first few times I picked up the pack. Not only is the pack light it carries more than you would expect, two things I look for in a daypack. It is also durable which is the kicker, this pack has become my go to day pack if I am running around town, going for a bike ride or going for a day hike and want to carry extra clothes and supplies.
21 Liters – Small enough not to get in the way, large enough to carry extra clothes, camera equipment, food and supplies.
The pack is made out of Tier 1 Recycled Nylon, which makes the pack lightweight, strong and eco-friendly. The pack is also made from Double Ripstop, which is an extremely durable Nylon-Spandex, which makes the pack, stretch and keeps it from tearing. The Shoulder Straps, Back and Hip-Belt are made out of a High-Void Polyester Mesh making those areas cushy and padded, allowing for extra comfort in the areas touching your body the most. There are two pockets designed for water bottles on the lower part of the pack, these pockets allow for easy access, while on the move. The Waist Belt has two zippered pockets; great for holding keys, wallets and other small items you want easy access to. The back of the pack has a medium sized zippered pocket, I carry bike tools in the pocket as they are easy to access and it doesn’t interfere with what I am carrying inside the pack. Inside the pack is a medium sized zippered mesh pocket and a mesh sleeve great for carrying a laptop or hydration bladder. The pack has a slit that the hose from the bladder can fit through allowing you access to water with ease. The pack also has a whistle on the chest strap, this is a great feature if anything were to happen and you needed to signal for help. The pack’s construction is well thought out and rugged, it has drain holes if water ever gets into the pack, it has a clip for a blinking bike light as well. The pack also has 360 Degree Reflectivity for night use; this is great when riding your bike on side streets.
Due to the well thought out design of the pack, it is extremely easy to get to anything you need within seconds. There is not time wasted fumbling with pockets or trying to get at items you need in your pack. This is one of the many great features that the GoLite VO24 Daypack offers.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
This pack is light, durable and the perfect size for daytrips and most adventures. It has become my go to pack for day-to-day activities; it fits my camera and lenses. It is the perfect size to take with me just about anywhere. The pack is comfortable and easy to adjust; I take it with me most days wither I am in the city or the mountains. I also try to support companies that use recycled materials, because it the right thing to do and most of the time their products are better and last longer to boot.
I look forward to using this pack while hiking Colorado’s 14ers this summer and taking it with me to various summer concerts and events.
