The Dakine Women’s Tempest Shorts are the latest in Dakine’s line of women’s specific mountain bike clothing. The Tempest Shorts are intended for all-mountain trail riding, including cross-country riding, down hill mountain biking, and everything in between.
I got the Dakine Tempest shorts at the tail end of summer and have been wearing them on nearly every ride since. The pros of the Tempest shorts are many: these shorts are lightweight, water repellant and have the perfect amount of stretch in the waistband to be very comfortable mountain biking. Also, the color (Watermelon) is beautiful and makes me feel cheery, awesome, and stoked for my ride the minute I put them on. When paired with the Dakine Catalyst Jersey in Watermelon, I’ve gotten quite a few compliments from other ladies on the trail envious of my head-to-toe pink.
Dakine Women’s Tempest Shorts Review Video
The fit of the Tempest shorts is good, save for the hip/upper femur area. While the Tempest shorts are loose and stretchy in the waist (perfect for mountain biking), they are also loose around the hip/upper femur and butt areas. Hey, it’s mountain biking, not cocktails with girlfriends, so this is okay. However, that said, I have owned other mountain bike shorts that accented my curves better (although those same shorts also were not stretchy enough in the waist, so it’s a toss as to which pair fits better).
Overall, I highly recommend the Women’s Tempest shorts for any ladies that want be comfortable and look good while shredding dirt. These shorts also go well with the Dakine mountain bike jerseys we tested earlier this month, in pink of course!
Ride on ladies!
