Fox Racing has outdone themselves once again by introducing the Fox Striker Helmet to the market. Weighting in at only 260 grams the Striker is the ideal helmet for trail riding and cross country mountain biking.
The Fox Striker was designed with riders in mind featuring 22 vents throughout the helmet along with structural honeycomb venting in the rear. With the added air flow Fox was able to shave considerable weight off the Striker Helmet which is almost 80 grams less then their popular Flux model. I tested this lightweight uber stylish and functional helmet in the Tetons of Wyoming and wanted to share my thoughts below :
fox striker helmet review
From day one the Fox Striker Helmet from Fox fit great right out of the box thanks in part to the Detox II retention system which is located on the back of the helmet. The Detox II system is similar to the ratchets and ladders found on snowboard bindings making for quick and easy adjustments on the fly.
We found this to be useful while riding in late fall or early spring when temperatures were cold and we wanted to ride with a light weight beanie under the helmet.
The Fox Striker has a removable visor which can shave even more weight off the helmet, something that mountain bike racers will surely be keen on. Now we had to wonder with all the weight savings would the helmet be able to protect us from head injuries, and it can thanks in part to being CPSC 1203, EN 1078: 1997, AS/NZS 2063: 2008 approved meeting all safety standards.
Overall the Fox Striker is one of the lightest mountain biking helmets on the market, has an affordable price point of only $119.00 and is available in two sizes S/M and L/XL. Shave some weight and time off your mountain biking riding with the Fox Racing Striker Helmet.
