Bergans Helium Jacket Review
The Bergans Helium Rain Jacket is a must have for anyone traveling to a wet climate this year. I have been putting this coat through numerous test while vacationing in Bali, Indonesia. Typically the rain season here ends in April, however each afternoon since we have arrived on the island in the month of May, the sky has turned grey and a torrential down poor of water has followed, especially when we were in the mountains trekking.
Knowing that the weather was unpredictable, I jumped at the opportunity to test the 2013-2014 Bergans Helium Jacket across the island.
This coat has become a life saver in so many ways. Weighing only 12 ounces I hardly notice the jacket is in my pack. Made of Dermizax, a waterproof, windproof and breathable material, the coat can take any rain storm you throw at it. Best of all, the Helium Jacket packs down small and doesn’t take up too much space in my backpack or day pack.
The jacket is extremely breathable thanks to under arm mesh zippers that allow a ton of air flow to your body. I have yet to feel hot or muggy while wearing the coat, even when temperatures hit the low 80’s. The Dermizax material truly works wonders! Even the front pockets are lined with mesh for maximum breathability and lots of ventilation.
Bergans has other coats in the line that are bulkier, tougher and made for extreme conditions, however I found the Helium Jacket to be perfect for any day trip you may encounter. If you looking for something for the cold, you may want to research heavier jackets.
Overall, I highly recommend the Bergans Helium Jacket to anyone that lives in a rainy area or for those of you planning on traveling to a wet location. The jacket is available in 3 color ways and is sized from Small to XXL.
