Never Summer Proto Snowboard
The 2012 Never Summer Proto is big mountain freestyle free-ride machine. With the ability to handle any terrain features with ease, the Never Summer Proto Snowboard Review will replace all the other boards in your quiver!!! Enough Said?
The Proto CT is rated a 5 out of 10 via on the Never Summer Industries Flex Meter, falling right in the middle of line. Not to stiff, not to soft, just right.. The softer flex helps to create an amazing all around ride. Never Summer makes boards that are stiffer for big mountain riding like the Raptor and softer for park riding such as the Evo but the Proto CT blends them together in perfect harmony.
Extremely lightweight, I was out filming with Kevin Krill of Crested Butte Photography and he mentioned “man, this thing is really lightweight.” Kevin and I both agree the board feels like a feather when your holding it, and I have to say it becomes weightless when attached to your feet..
Riding the 154 Proto takes me back in a time Josh Malay (R.I.P) had the vision that you could ride smaller boards in any terrain. Half a decade later and Never Summer has the same idea, smaller boards make turning and riding that much easier. The Proto turns on a dime, in the trees and on hard packed snow.
I feel like I am riding a skateboard while jibbing around on the Proto. Eventually you will come to a point in your snowboarding where it will be crucial for your board to do exactly what you need, without any effort or thought. The Proto will solve this problem for you.
Being in the middle of the flex meeter I feel the Proto does not offer as much pop as say the Never Summer Evo, however the board can still be loaded onto the tail for nice ollies. Since getting on the Proto I have been hitting cliffs and rocks drops more then I ever had in the past. The board is solid, just lift your legs and fly..
The Proto is a true twin tip snowboard. I have had some of the most fun in years hitting the park jumps in Crested Butte on this deck. I know that whatever way I land, the board will do its part and ride out smooth. Having the extra confidence to land backwards off kickers is make or break in terms of landing your tricks. Thanks to the Proto I landed my first legit backside 180 off the second kicker in our park. Landing switch felt so good…
Must have for any “real snowboarders”. Never Summer has been making boards by hand since 1991. Since then each year the boards have continued to revolutionize the snowboard industry. I feel so honored to be able to ride the Never Summer Proto before it’s available to the public. The Proto will become a fixture in the Never Summer line for years to come. Well done guys!!!
