The duo brought there amazing live acoustic show much to the delight of the nearly sold out crowd combining classical flamenco music with modern day punk rock.

Rodrigo and Gabriela first met while living in Mexico City playing in the thrash metal band “Tierra Acida”. Growing frustrated with the the limited music scene in there hometown the two moved to Dublin Ireland where then gained instant fame playing in local pubs and music festivals.

The duo has released 6 albums to date, their most recent 11:11 catapulted the band into the American mainstream music by covering songs from artist such as, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. With the addition of Shenkar from India the sounds took on the feel of another world, at the very least another galaxy. Al Di Meola showed the crowd the possibilities of a string instrument blending jazz fusion with Latin guitar. The traveling guitar player, or gypsy as some call him just played a gig in Italy and will be heading to Hungry after Red Rocks. It was an honor to be able to see this legend live and in concert. Zach de la Rocha front man for the Los Angeles based rock band Rage Against The Machine inspired people to talk about SB 1070 in Arizona and the chances of something similar coming to Colorado. The Mountain Weekly News is not taking a stance on the issue. Were just here to provide entertainment news…

Towards the end of the show the band and crowd seemed to get rowdier as the music progressed and changes genera’s, some folks were heading for the doors while other chanted “Orion”, a nod to a Metallica song the band has been known to play.

Video of Zach de la Rocha speaking to 8,000+ people at Red Rocks Amphitheatre boycotting the state of Arizona and urging Colorado citizens to prevent the same type of thing from happening here in Colorado.

You completely misrepresented why people were leaving the show. They were not leaving because of the change in music type. They were leaving because of Zack De La Rocha and his inappropriate political tirade. It ruined the whole show.

      Dain,

The people I was with left due to the music, not the ranting. But we appreciate your comments!
