Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort Receives 39 Inches of Snow
Las Vegas, Nevada – It has been an incredible start to the 2011-2012 ski season for the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort, the small resort located just minutes away from the strip was the first to open in the country and recently got pounded with 39″ of snow from a storm that started on Wednesday.
With a current base of roughly 56 inches the mountain is in great shape, with more snowfall expected to continue through the weekend. LVSSR opened for the season on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, a week ahead of schedule, due to increased snowmaking capacity and a series of early winter storms.
Heading to Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics show and need a break from the tech world? I know I sure will and plan to take a day at this great hidden gem.
The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort has been in business for more than 50 years! That’s crazy. I know it’s hard to believe but we’ve been here forever and we love it. We love being the answer to that question, “What is there to do in Las Vegas other than gamble?” We love hearing, “There’s snow in Las Vegas?1″ And we will always be here for something to do for those in Vegas that are under 21.
Even though we’ve been in business that long, every year when the temperatures get cold around October there is always excitement in the air. And then….there’s always that first day of snowfall. Last night was that time. Some precipitation moved in from Southern California and gave us a total of 7 inches for our first snowfall of the 2013-14 season. Fantastic! We are all excited!
Our planned opening date is November 29th. But you never know, if this keeps up we might have to open early. Then Mother Nature will show that Las Vegas can have an awesome winter wonderland and fresh snow only an hour from the glitz of the casinos.
Every winter we love being the perfect getaway from from the crazy casinos, over the top clubs, and gluttonous buffets. Fresh air, fresh powder and friends are all you need for a day of fun in the snow.
