Tom Sims Remembered Forever a Legend RIP 1950-2012
Tom Sims Timeless Style

Tom Sims Remembered – Sims Snowboards has announced their founder Tom Sims has passed away according to twitter post this morning:

Tom was a pioneer in the sports of skateboarding and snowboarding. Having lived in Santa Barbara California since 1971 Tom Sims was fully engrained in the surf skate lifestyle. If not for Tom and his modified snurfer the snowboard industry would never grown to where it is today.

Thanks Tom for everything you brought to both sports!!

I remember watching Tom surf In Ocean City. I was a year behind him in H.S. I thought he was so cool and so cute. Unfortunately, back then girls didn’t surf or I would have been right there with Tom and his friends.

My thoughts are with Tom Sims’ relatives and friends. The Sims’ trademark meant quality, innovation and style. The brand helped lift skateboarding several notches style-wise. I still own a couple of delicious wooden decks from the seventies.

Tom helped popularize not only skating, but the other big gravity sport, snowboarding. Here, his innovation shone. Every skate mag back then had at least one picture of someone ripping on a Sims snowboard.

Rest in peace. A true legend has left us.
