MOOSE, WYO – My second favorite thing to do in the Tetons is happening right now with the opening of Grand Teton National Park’s Teton Park Road. You can run, bike, walk, blade or in today’s case skateboard down the 2 lane National Park road until May 1st without having to worry about any vehicles on the road or tourist for that matter.
As of March 25th, 2017 the Grand Teton National Park Teton Park Road has been plowed and is free of snow from the Taggart Lake parking area to Signal Mountain Lodge. Best of all your dog can come along now too. Over the course of next month you can safely bring your four legged leashed friends with you into the park and have some room to roam on the plowed roads. Keep in mind dogs are not allowed in the backcountry or off the park road for that matter, so no trying to ski with your dog in Grand Teton National Park.
With this weather who’s skiing anyways? Oh just kidding, as the snow looked great up high and reports are the skiing is good. I’m going to head back out later this week in search of soft snow. In the time being, be sure to consider spending some time on one of the most scenic roads in N. America, especially if you’re a local here in Jackson, you earned it!
Oh and P.S. bears are starting to wake up, so you might want to bring some bear spray along even if its March..
