Michael Jackson is known the world over for his accomplished, lifelong musical career. From his start as a young child in the Jackson Five, to his enormous success as a solo pop star, Jackson imagined, created and performed like nobody else. His three live solo tours, The Bad World Tour, The Dangerous World Tour and The History World Tour were epic, larger than life concerts performed for millions of fans worldwide. These solo tours epitomized what an astonishing entertainer he really was. In an attempt to capture the sheer magnitude and imagination of these performances, as well as the legacy of the music of Michael Jackson, Cirque du Soleil and the estate of the late Michael Jackson have joined together to create a show that immortalizes the King of Pop.
Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson – The Immortal World Tour made its premier in Montreal, Canada on October 2, 2011 and has been going strong ever since. When the tour ends it will have visited approximately 50 cities in the United States and Canada. Reviews thus far describe a feeling of experiencing a live Michael Jackson concert, even though he is no longer there. Audiences seem to feel an overwhelming sense of tribute to the man and his music, while also feeling like he is still very much a part of the performance. With elaborate costume design by Zaldy Goco, the renowned New York designer, who has created looks for Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce, just to name a few, this show is sure to be a visual wonder.
