Fallen Star Yoga Pose Instructions
1. Start in downward dog pose with a strong core. Emphasize the flatness in your back by drawing the hips back as you press the hands firmly into the ground.
2. Raise right foot and reach back strongly with the heel as you flex the foot. Swing the leg forward, bringing your bent knee to the outside of the left elbow. Stack shoulders over wrists and pause here for a breath.
3. Extend the right leg, resting the blade edge of the foot on the ground. Work on straightening the back leg as you hold this position for a breath.
4. Send the left hand high, allowing this motion to open your chest to the side. Align the left hand directly above the right hand. Resist the temptation to let the hips collapse at all toward the ground.
Within the pose: Find a comfortable direction to direct your gaze, making sure the neck is in line with the rest of the spine. Use controlled movements to reverse the process back to downward dog. Repeat on the other side, then rest in child’s pose as your body processes the fallen star pose.
