In 2005, acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell, alongside is wife and vocalist, Teresa Williams, dropped his self-titled debut album. Given the immense talent between these two love birds, its surprising this disc hadn’t fallen into our hands years ago.
Alas, in much anticipation and long overdue, comes an album that speaks on volumes of true love and the bond it holds. Having been together for decades and married for over 20 years, Larry and Teresa come together and bring you along on a love story magic carpet ride that is Soulful, Genuine, Melodic and Beautiful. The disc includes 8 songs written and produced by Larry and 3 cover songs. The last song on the album, a Grateful Dead Hymn written by Jerry Garcia himself, is the most perfect ending to this creative piece.
Just looking at the couple, from the three pictures the album portrays, you can feel the love between them. Their love vibrates through you. Teresa’s voice is one that awakens and captivates you, making you feel alive. Its deep and beautiful and rich in character. In songs like “Running Wild” and “Another One More Time”, you get that sultry, slow and sexy side of Teresa’s capabilities and in songs like “Keep your lamp trimmed and burning” you get her country infused, fun, quirkry, yet still captivating voice. Each song has a guitar solo that critically showcase Larry’s instrumental talents. He is amazing and can do pretty much anything. Each one is different and jammy in it’s own way making each track uniquely its own. This album takes you to the country-side, sitting by an embered fire in your lovers arms .This is the BEST CD you will ever purchase. Sound like outrageous claim? Well it’s true.
These people have been preparing for this CD all their lives. They are seasoned and excellent performers and musicians. Larry has produced and played with a who’s who of Rock, Folk, Bluegrass and beyond. He’s worked with everybody from Bob Dylan and Levon Helm to Phil Lesh and Keith Richards, just to name a fraction of who he’s worked with. Teresa Williams in her own right has sung with Bonnie Bramlett, Buddy Miller, and Emmylou Harris, Little Feat and Hot Tuna. She has toured as a member of Phil Lesh and Friends and has been featured with Further, Lesh and Bob Weir’s post-Grateful Dead projects. Her voice is like no other and she is a voice that needs to be heard. I could go on forever but I won’t. Just buy the CD. You won’t be sorry. That I can assure you of.
