JACKSON, WY – The John Butler Trio rolled into Jackson, Wyoming for an intimate concert at the Center For The Arts. The Australian born, Butler has roots in Jackson Wyoming as John’s mother spent a winter living and skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The tiny venue was the perfect place to see an act like the John Butler Trio as the crowd and performers were really able to interact with one another.
We happened upon some great box seats with plenty of dancing room. Looking around the Center For The Arts you would be hard-pressed to find a bad seat. Even the very last row of the top balcony was only a couple hundred feet from the artist. One of the highlights of the show aside from John’s fast picking and guitar slapping was when he would talk and joke with the audience between songs.
The band is touring in support of the John Butler Trio’s new album, ‘APRIL UPRISING’, his first studio offering in three years since the much acclaimed ‘Grand National’.
This was the first time I have seen the John Butler Trio live, the Mountain Weekly News covered his last Red Rocks show a few years back and everyone kept raving about how great of a performer Butler was, after seeing him live I agree 100%. The band sounded tight, playing a combination of JBT hit songs and tracks from the new album.
