Ned needed a music store, said proprietor and luthier Doug Armitage of Brightwood Music in Nederland, CO. Brightwood Music has been around for the last year and sells acoustic, classical, electric, and slide guitars and other stringed and fretted instruments. They also provide lessons, repairs, and customizations.
Brightwood sells instruments old and new at more reasonable prices than most stores in the Front Range metropolis area. There is also a good selection of basses, mandolins and banjos. They can make or repair virtually any kind of instrument, Mr. Armitage said. Although, lately there’s a lot of people coming to me for custom violins. He recently completed a violin for the band Elephant Revival.
Mr. Armitage also carries his passion for music into the community. I do a lot here with the school system, he said. Recently, Brightwood Music did a benefit for the school system at Whistler’s Cafe to try and raise enough for a school up-right bass.
Many students who take lessons at Brightwood are students also taking classes at the school. They are coming in for additional info or one on one, said Mr. Armitage. Brightwood Music employs five or six teachers to give lessons for the violin, the viola, the cello, the up-right bass, bass guitar, the mandolin, the banjo and all varying styles of guitar.
Brightwood Music is located at 150 N. Jefferson Rd in Nederland, CO 80466. The store hours are 10:30 to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10:30 to 5:00 on Saturdays and from 12:00 to 5:00 on Sundays.
