DENVER, CO – Weird Al Yankovic has been playing whacky songs for over 30 years and the music industry is still listening. Thursday Nights concert featured Weird Al Yankovic, along with his band mates performing their take on pop music covers. One of the first songs of the night was a a rendition of Green Day’s “Dont Want to Be An American Idiot”, with Weird Al at the helm the song took on a new twist and was dedicated “Dont Want to Be A Canadian Idiot” complete with funny accents and Canadian jokes..
In between songs Weird Al would run off stage to change clothes and props, during the transitions the crowd was treated to a video montage called AL TV, of funny main stream media clips throughout the years. Highlights included a conversation with Jessica Simpson, Tv’s shows that mentioned Weird Al from Friends to King of the Hill and Johny Carson.
Half way thru the crowd of mostly young males and middle ages guys started getting rowdy and really hanging onto each of Al’s words and notes. The crowd went bonkers when Weird Al sat down with a nice Acoustic Guitar ( that belonged to Ken at the Gothic Theatre ) Al looked like he was going to play the guitar. However when the song ended he proceeded to smash the guitar to pieces on stage..
If your looking to laugh and don’t take yourself to seriously I would recommended checking out Weird Al sometime in a city near you.
