From quarrying big blocks for a snow cave to cutting through thick ice crusts the Brooks-Range Igloo 35 Snow Saw gets the job done. I found that this snow saw was a bit oversize to fit in most avalanche compartments but fit fine in the main part of my pack. This thing is burly! but the aluminum blade construction keeps it on par with to the weight of most other saws. Need to saw wood? Maybe for a deadman anchor? Look no further, this saw can do that too. You can even attach a ski pole to the red section of the saw with a ski strap to extend your reach. Complete with a crystal car etched into the side and millimeter measurements this saw is a very handy tool for assessing avalanche danger(except for use in PST’s) and for winter camping.
-Easy to read measurements
-Strong and sharp teeth
-Ski pole attachment
-Does not perform well for use in PST tests due to the thickness of the saw blade.
-Slightly to big to fit in the avalanche compartment of most packs.
-Clunky oversized sheath.
