I’ll start with the price because, boy, it’s good: at only $39.00 the Function Snowboard Carry System is one heck of a deal. It makes for an incredibly easy method of throwing your board on your back to do a little hiking up the hills.
Now, I usually use a split board when I’m tackling the back country, so I’ve only used this carry system a few times on one of my regular boards. However, each time that I have used it, it has worked like a charm.
It’s 3.5 inches by 4.5 inches and 84g so you barely even notice it’s on your back while you’re using it. You can even throw it in your bag (or wear it without a board) for later use when you’re hitting your home mountain’s groomed runs.
The Function Snowboard Carry System is very simple to use. It basically works like a seat belt for your board. One strap goes over the bottom of your board near the binding, the other over the top of your board near the other binding, and then two straps go over your shoulders sort of like a backpack.
The way that the carry system distributes your board’s weight makes carrying it super comfortable. It also keeps it far enough up on your back that it doesn’t threaten to drag in the snow.
If you board the backcountry on a regular basis, then this carry system is for you. It makes hiking up the hill much easier. Plus, it frees up your hands so you can swing them for momentum or even to have a snack! Function makes their Carry System for skis as well so your skiing buddies will be happy too.
Typically we recommend using a backpack when going out in the Back country. Be safe and bring your avalanche survival gear with you, don’t leave it in the car.
