Gordini has been a popular name in the ski and outdoor industry since their start in 1956. Any brand that has lasted that long has done many things right and Gordini continues to put out high end products, mainly known for their gloves and goggles.
Enter the Gordini Craftsbury Outdoor Boot Sock. This is a versatile sock that comes up right below the calf. The wool fabric is extremely comfortable and has proven to be very durable. It features SoleKNIT™ Dual Layer: Merino wool + durable exterior combined with Merino wool + moisture-wicking interior. Also featuring Expanding OrbitKNIT™ ribbing at cuff for a comfortable and secure fit without constriction. This is an insulated quilting pattern to increase warmth without added bulk.
How Do They Perform?
I first tested these socks down the middle fork of the salmon river on a multi day kayak trip. They were the only pair of socks I brought. I used them underneath my dry suit to provide warmth and comfort on the river. Being a self support kayak trip, weight is a major concern, so I choose to use my socks as my camp shoes. Sounds weird but these socks have so much cushion under foot that walking around camp they provided enough comfort. The next morning they were dry, and with a quick shake off seemed to be perfectly clean.
I have used these socks extensively since the snow has been falling and I’ve been hiking into ice climbs. The Gordini Craftsbury sock is extremely warm. These socks can take a beating, and take a lot of miles before needing a wash ( whoops sorry mom).

For being a thicker sock, the way they are constructed creates good breathability and provides good sweat wicking properties. You can see the diamond shaped pattern sewn in the sock. A padded shin panel protects against abrasion and boot bang. The combination of thicker and thinner areas create a balance between warmth, comfort and breathability.
The Gordini Craftsbury ($25.99) is a do it all cold weather sock, keep your eyes out for these next time your shopping and you’ll find yourself pleased with your purchase.
