Helly Hansen Odin Jacket Review
The Helly Hansen Odin was the only jacket that came with me on a four-day spring break snowboarding trip to Winter Park with my family, and it worked perfectly with a mid-weight base layer in the mild, but variable spring temperatures.
It’s kept me warm on multiple runs when the temperature required a shell, and when the sky decided to unleash a mid-run mix of snow and rain, the Fastpack Jacket had no problem shedding moisture. When things heat up, the temperature is easy to regulate with the large front vent pockets.
It’s also become my cycling and bike commute jacket. For those rides when it’s cold at the start, I throw it over a kit and base layer.
When packed, the jacket barely takes up any room in my panniers and easily fits in a cycling jersey pocket. While not a cycling specific jacket, the slightly longer rear helps keep spray from soaking my backside, and the bright color and reflective trim is nice when riding (or running) anywhere near traffic.
Ideal Users: Hikers, Climbers, Cyclists, Runners, Spring Skiers, and Snowboarders
Seriously versatile and packable, The Helly Hansen Odin Fastpack Jacket ($262) is the jacket I’d like to have with me on all of my outdoor adventures.
