Helly Hansen Glacier Down Jacket Review

Helly Hansen Down Jacket

Helly Hansen Vanir Glacier Down Jacket Review

The Helly Hansen Glacier Down Jacket has 800 fill of goose down which makes it a very warm jacket.  The hood is great and really protects you from the elements.  It has been durable so far but wouldn’t want to do any thick tree skiing.

Some puffys have pockets your hands can barely fit in and aren’t equipped with zippers, not the case with this one.  The front pockets on the Helly Hansen Vanir Glacier Down Jacket are huge with some burly zippers that work very well.  This made me happy!  I use this for my warm layer backcountry skiing, snowmobiling and riding the chairs at the resort.

Helly Hansen Puffy Sizing

I like putting my shell over it to protect it and keep even more heat in. With this jacket there’s a good bit of extra room as it runs a bit large. I would recommend that you size down, getting a size smaller than you normally wear.

I wear a size large, yet the size medium Helly Hansen Glacier Down fits perfectly!

Overall Impression

It worked well in all scenarios I could put the puff through.  For the price, the Helly Hansen Vanir Glacier Down ($325.00) is hard to beat. It’s designed to keep you warm and will hopefully last for years to come.

  1. Thanks very much – you sizing comments are most useful. It’s amazing how many reviews offer no help w/ sizing info.
