The Giro Encore Helmet is a great backcountry and hiking helmet and is very comfortable especially while wearing a beanie. After adjusting the chain strap to the proper size, the helmet fits perfectly. Due to the venting of the helmet a beanie is recommend for winter conditions as the vents do not close.
Light weight, with even weight distributed across your head.
Encore helmet comes with soft vented mesh and fleece padding, removable ear pads, and a GIRO/Skullcandy speaker attachment available for this helmet which is a really nice feature. Giro Helmets offers a ridged outer shell with, mesh venting inlay-ed between the inner and outer shell of the helmet.
The core of the helmet is made of a Styrofoam composite offering rigidness as well and flex during impact. Your head will stay warm with the padded fleece liner which is both warm and cushiony. A fleece chinstrap runs the length of the helmet, this provides warmth and comfort on cold days.
The Helmet fits securely while riding down the mountain. Goggles help to keep the helmet in place and cut out any draft from getting into the helmet. The Encore is aptly names as it allows you to take one more run during cold days.
The Helmet has a sleek design with a matte finish. The matte finish is nice, as it hides any scuffs, scratches of digs you might have gotten in the woods. On the right side of the helmet is Bat taking flight from a tree. The Graphic are low key and often covered by the Goggle strap.
I have worn this Helmet over 150 days with no incident of damage to the helmet or more importantly my head. I can’t imagine being on the snow without it. The Giro Encore venting system is great for hiking in the backcountry or skiing down slope. The GIRO Encore Helmet has proven to be durable, easy to care for and dries quickly, all great features in a helmet.
