The Giro G10 Helmet is one of the best helmets that I’ve used and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially those riding at the park or through trees. I guess my mom urging me to wear a helmet when I was younger paid off, because now I wear a Giro helmet every time that I go snowboarding.
Giro G10 Review
The main reason that I’ve been riding in this helmet all season long is because of its great fit. In the past I’ve battled with poor fitting helmets and an uncomfortable helmet just makes you resent them.
I was able to fit a thin beanie underneath this helmet, but it was a tight fit (which I suppose is actually good). The helmet didn’t jiggle around at all and you knew that it was going to stay in place if you took a hard fall.
The Giro G10 is lightweight, but not too lightweight. Even though I know that featherweight helmets provide top-notch protection, I prefer to go with something that feels a little sturdier.
The G10 felt like a helmet without bogging my head down.
The helmet’s thermostat control gives you access to three ventilation setting. This is definitely a must for a warm day at the mountain. I’ve had problems with helmets overheating in the past, but the Giro G10 made sure that these problems stayed just there – in the past!
Giro has years of experience creating helmets for almost every sort of sport imaginable and it is definitely reassuring to know that your head protection is time tested. In addition, the G10 is ASTM F2040 and CE EN 1077 tested and certified. It is made of a hard polycarbonate shell and an in-mold EPS lining.
Unfortunately, the best test of a helmet is probably taking a big fall in it, and that is exactly what I did! Luckily, I didn’t get injured and the Giro G10 held up perfectly.
The fall happened when I caught my back edge while riding at a pretty high speed and swung backwards straight onto the back of my head. It was the kind of fall that would have meant serious trouble if I didn’t have a helmet on.
Sure, the fall hurt, but the helmet cushioned the impact and kept me safe.
The G10 is one of the best looking helmets available. It has a sleek, low-profile look to it. Basically, the helmet is super cool looking and makes you look like you’re lot better at boarding than you actually are (at least in my case)!
It comes in a variety of blacks, greys, and whites including both matte and glossy finishes. A few of the color options have small designs on them, but for the most part the helmets are visually simple.
I really love the Giro G10 helmet and highly recommend it to anyone. It fits great, is lightweight, and keeps your head protected.
It looks dope too.
