What makes the Toad & CO Women’s Spindrift Anorak Jacket function great is it’s lightweight as opposed to Gore-Tex which can be a bit heavy, toss in the perfect amount of insulation and the second the winter weather begins to break, and your favorite puffy is too hot you will love wearing this for all your outdoor adventures.
I work with animals ranging from dogs and cats to goats and horses. And my free time is spent exploring the mountains and trails around me in the Tetons. So really I live outside.
The jacket gets cold if you’re standing around without insulators but paired with a sweater it’s perfect as the Spindrift Anorak shields against winds and average rain. I work with big animals so a lot of my time outside is in pretty heavy situations. The nylon fabric’s DWR water repellent finish nailed it on those cold, wet Teton mornings. A few weeks ago I had to shave a matted, heavy undercoat at work and by chance I was wearing the jacket. After the grooming, I took a damp cloth and de-haired myself within two minutes! May sound stupid but getting horse and dog hair off your jacket is such a great test of ruggedness and repellent qualities.
While I was in the field a day later during an April snowstorm, the three-piece hood tucked around my face for extra protection to combat mother nature’s forces. Then I went out for drinks after work, one of those rare technical pieces that you can also wear as normal, stylish clothes. Perfect for working on a farm all day; perfect for running in the Spring wintry mix; just as perfect for traveling.
For “Normal” Life
On a recent international flight I realized how many passports, phones, gadgets the large zippered hoodie pocket around the front could hold. Then I spent a weekend camping in it; another weekend hiking through the snow in it; everyday just living in it. It was simply always the right jacket for the occasion.
The color of my Toad & CO Women’s Spindrift Anorak Jacket is called red clay, the cut is amazing, and nobody would know this is probably the most technical piece I own. It also comes in blue abyss: bold that I love and that make you easy to find in the woods or heavy precip.
My only issue is I’m usually a size medium in jackets but this one runs a little smaller. I’m 5’7 with a larger bust. The jacket fits once it’s on (it’s a pullover) but is a little tight around my chest. I’d recommend going up a size, especially if you plan to wear under layers.
I highly recommend the Toad & CO Women’s Spindrift Anorak Jacket as that essential non-winter piece. Won’t hold off a monsoon but it’s stylish and versatile enough for all spring and summer activities. A great piece of clothing to wear just about anywhere.
