This years Dakine Caliber Jacket is lightweight offering a perfect fit that’s not too baggy or loose. One of the features I loved the most was the limited amount “things” to get line snagged on.
I tested this Dakine jacket while guiding and fishing on my off time here in the Tetons along the legendary Snake River of Wyoming. Find out how this fishing jacket held up :
Dakine Caliber Jacket Review
If you have ever tried fly fishing in the wind it gets annoying quick, you have fly line all over the place and the last thing you want is your jacket doing the same.
Rain is not match for the Caliber as its treated with a Durable Water Repellant finish that helps water bead off the jacket, which is nice if your out fishing in the rain or for that accidental dunk in the river. The Dakine Pole Bender Fishing Jacket fits very nicely inside my waders, even on the windiest of days.
The jacket I tested was black. This color works well for the fall but may be too hot for a summer afternoon between rain showers. This may be a bit nitpicky but the hood could use some stiffening up.
Pros: Bomber Zippers made to handle salt water and sand, packable, great breatability,
Cons: Color black might be too hot for open water in the middle of the summer
Overall, the Dakine Polebender/ Caliber is an incredible shell for fishing, or any other outdoors activity for that matter! It will be the ONLY shell I take fishing.
