Feet are the most important part of the outdoorsperson’s body. And our feet take the most abuse day in day out. Like exponentially more.
The geniuses at the pjur group get this. In fact, pjur anti-chafing 2skin gel may be the most important bit of gear you don’t have in your pack. It’s how you prevent the a common sideliner for the adventurer, the dreaded friction foot wound.
Hiking with Pjur
This summer I paid attention. The first time I started to feel some rubbing after using the pjur Active 2skin was about 10 miles (16 km) into the Teton Crest Trail when, after a morning wacking through waist-high grass dripping with freezing rain, my socks were completely drenched. Then my Gore-tex shoes started sandpapering my problem heel and fallen arches. I stopped, pulled out the pjur anti-chafing gel dispenser, applied it to my heel which destroyed the friction spot.
Since 2kskin is water and sweat resistant it actually allowed me to finish the trail without developing a blister. It also worked just as well in the morning freeze as the afternoon swelter. Other creams I’d used before seemed to disappear almost as quickly as I put them on while sweating and drenched.
On another outing we went backpacking to the top of Table Mountain for the solar eclipse, I was loaded up with 60+ pounds of gear and, from time to time, my son (on my neck) over rock, through rivers; it was just rough, foot-intensive painful hiking. Once again I put on pjur Active 2skin Anti Chafing Cream preemptively and 18 miles later my feet were like they hadn’t just been literally ground into the hardpack. Clearly pjur worked for walking and hiking but what about running?
Running with Pjur
On a recent trip to Europe I borrowed shoes to run around the city on cobblestones and concrete streets. I felt hotspots instantly start to rub and my little toe started to inflame. Thanks to the pjur’s Anti-Chafing Gel’s travel friendly refillable pump dispenser size of 20 ml (about the size of a large chapstick and the larger 3.4 fl.oz (smaller than a skinny Red Bull) you can quickly pull a dispenser or bottle out and squirt a protective layer of film where you need it most. It lasted for the remainder of a quick 10-mile run along the Thames.
Because pjur works to protect against skin-to-skin chafing as well as skin-to-clothing friction, it’s perfect for breaking in new (or borrowed) shoes. The pjur Active 2skin Anti Chafing Gel can be applied, everywhere including between your toes and against your heel. It’s also amazing for when you plan to spend long days in the saddle.
I’m stoked that pjur’s anti-chafing cream saved my summer and allowed me to get training up for what’s already looking to be a huge winter.
pjur 2skin definitely takes the award for most important gear I hadn’t packed before.
pjur 2skin is available starting at $11.99 for the 0.68 fl.oz dispenser and only $21.99 for the 3.4 fl.oz bottle. To order visit: https://us.pjuractive.com/
