A good set of boots are the most important piece of gear for a snowboarder. Trying to find that balance of comfort, soft or stiffness level, durability, grip and response can be a challenge for sure. I have been sucked into the Burton side of things for most of my snowboarding life. With the exception of Fitwell for the hardcore adventures. Many of my fellow riders swear by thirty-two boots. I got the chance to try out some Vans and have been loving them!
Vans Sequal Review
If you haven’t heard of Vans you probably haven’t been part of the earth for that long. Vans was established in 1966. Growing up skateboarding, there were Vans and Airwalk in my mind all the time. They both entered the snowboard boot market some time ago but Vans continues to put out some solid boots.
The Vans Sequel Boot is a upper middle of the road boot listing at $289.00. Put them up against the Burton Imperials that I have currently that go for $339.00 there is no comparison.
Everything about the Vans is better!
Liners – The Sequel Boot liner is very comfy, heat moldable, has a booster strap, and a simple solid tension system. They keep your heal in place very well which is the hardest thing for me to find in a boot. I have very narrow heals and ankles. The ULTRACUSH foot beds are ultra cushy and feel good all day!
Shell – The shell feels very solid and durable. Equipped with a traditional lacing system that snugs everything up just right. The cool thing is you can adjust the stiffness level of the boot by using the internal booster strap. Vans calls it the Tongue Lock Down System.
-For a softer feel keep the booster strap around the liner.
-For a stiffer feel wrap the strap around the external tongue of the shell!
Sole – The sole is super grippy for the boot backing adventures. It has a good design feels very well constructed.
All in all Vans has sold me on this boot and has sparked my curiosity to try out some of their other boots. If there is one reason to get the Vans Sequal Snowboard Boot ($289.95) is for its overall comfort!
Thanks for making a killer boot!
