DENVER, CO – The first annual First Chair Festival presented by The Enthusiast Network hosted a nine hour event centered entirely around the ski community. From this season’s newest ski flicks to raffles, companies promoting the latest 2017/18 gear and so much more!
With the doors opening at 1, I showed up and already the first ski film was playing, ‘Eat The Guts” from HG skis. All I have to say is these these skiers are savages. A creative, Urban ski flick set to really make you want to grab a shovel, build a lip, and hurl your meat down a down a couple sets of stairs.
Immediately following was ‘Lite year’s’ from Big Picture. I was lucky enough to watch these guys this past winter up at Mt. Baker send some of these shots. I was nothing short of impressed by this film. Just a good ole fashion mix up of Spine walls, Kickers, pillow lines and everything in between including mullets. Recommend it to anyone trying to amp up for the snow
Then Good Company’s ‘Guest List’ was up next. All I have to say is please go watch this film. You will not be disappointed. No spoilers here
Level 1’s Movie Habit was next at bat. I really liked Habit. Not only is the skiing incredible(as usual) But I liked how they based Habit around how all of us have created Habits out of skiing. A step by step guide on the in’s and out’s of our skiing Habit!
The Amigo’s over at SFC Holding the tent down! Always good to see these guys at all the events. I believe they have a rail jam/sample sale coming up on October 21st in Denver! Always fun to support the youngsters and get stoked on the shred!
Picture organic ‘In gora’ Was something else. 10 riders, 13 countries, 1 month, 1 bus. A truly adventurous film that also hits on local environmental issues they face along the way. A true organic film that I would recommend to anyone.
After, The Moth and The Flame hopped on stage and kept the rock going. I can say I had never heard these guys before they stepped on stage but they rocked the crap out of it! A great band to listen to while riding, I can promise you that!
The food alley as I call it. Everything from Pizza, to Acai bowls, bbq sandwiches and more!
The Beer Garden. Samples from most vendors, as well if you are a VIP you get 2 free drinks and a free food item!
The Festival tent even had its own happy hour for gear with awesome deals on hats, tees, beanies.
Zeal had on display and for sale a huge range of Sunglasses and snow goggles! Got to try them on and see which style works the best! Zeal has a big range of polarized and photochromic lenses to keep your eyes peeled!
Eyce Molds had a tent set up as well! This is a Colorado based company that makes silicone smoking devices. They have a full range of devices including ones you can form from Ice. Something different for you, as well as something durable for on mountain activities.
SASS Global travel also had a booth set up. I have been trying to get down to Argentina with these guys for a couple years now. It was really nice getting to put names to faces, and really talk about the sessions they offer in Puerto Rico, Japan, and Argentina. Needless to say if you have ever wanted Pow in August these are the people you need to look up!
After the Bands got done with their sets, they gave away One day in a heli at Eagle pass Heli ski based out of Revelstoke. Unfortunately i did not win. Some lucky fella in the crowd and a friend will have one great day in Canada this upcoming season!
The last two films were Faction’s This is home and Matchstick productions ‘Drop Everything’
Msp was insane. All I have to say it Cody Townsend’s dual part with fellow skier and Wife Elyse Saugstad. Was something else. I really enjoyed the part on both accounts. I won’t give any more Spoilers but it is definitely a great ski movie that will not only make you laugh, but make you get stoked for winter.
With winter quickly approaching here in CO and A-Basin opening friday, it is just about go time! If you are in the Denver metro area on October 14th, there will be Snowboard on the block, grab tickets and check it out! If not I hope to see you at the First Chair festival next fall!
