Snowboarding Mt. Baker Road Shots in Tennis Shoes

Have you ever wanted to try snowboarding in tennis shoes? Well, I can now check that one off my “bucket list” as I had the opportunity to take road laps at Mt. Baker with George St. James on Tuesday afternoon, the only rule – you had to drop in wearing your tennis shoes and ride back to the car.

An old MBHC tradition that still lives on.

So off we went driving past the ski area, with St. James leading the way in tennis shoes and jeans! Not only was he wearing tennis shoes but his feet were way too small to fit inside his snowboard bindings.

Having obviously done this before George grabbed his gloves and stuffed them inside his binding creating a snug fit and down the hill, he went.

Honestly, this was one of the funniest things I have seen in all my years of snowboarding. I kept waiting for an epic tomahawk instead I watched perfect turns go down the face.

I figured what the hell, if George made it down I got this and off I went on my trusty Jones Mountain Twin…
