Founder, Mike Hardaker
As the CEO of the Mountain Weekly News, Mike manages the day-to-day editorial calendar, finances, advertising, hiring, payroll all of it Jackson Wyoming style. An experienced outdoorsman, photographer, product reviewer, and influencer, he is constantly on the move. Before founding the Mountain Weekly News, Mike honed his expertise with Teton Gravity Research and Snowboard Magazine. He now operates the website from downtown Jackson, WY, creating numerous jobs for the local community and beyond.
Since September 2023, Mike has been contending with a significant challenge from Google. Following its Helpful Content Update (HCU), Google classified content from Mountain Weekly News—and by extension, the Jackson, Wyoming outdoor community that had his back—as ‘Unhelpful.’ which is ironic for us, as we really know outdoor gear here in the Tetons. This abrupt decision, seemingly AI-driven, resulted in the removal of Mountain Weekly News articles from search results, effectively attempting to diminish Mike’s work and the publication’s reach.
Despite this setback, our Jackson-based team possesses deep, authentic knowledge of mountain life and a commitment to genuine outdoor experiences. We have persevered, and in 2025, Mountain Weekly News continues to stand strong, delivering valuable content. Heck we have been doing it for almost 25 years now. We like to call it GRIT up here.
Mike is a former professional snowboarder that competed in big mountain snowboarding events, spend his first 20 years traveling the world looking for uncrowded waves and now has become a world class hunter routinely filling elk tags across the state of Wyoming when not getting face shots at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Snowking or in the local backcountry.
