Independent Journalism & Technical Vetting
Mountain Weekly News is an independent media outlet based in Jackson, Wyoming. For over 24 years, we have served as a trusted source for technical gear auditing and mountain culture reporting.
We Are Not a Store
Mountain Weekly News does not sell products directly. We do not hold inventory, we do not have a shopping cart, and we do not process transactions. We are a journalistic entity. Our mission is to technically vet gear in the most demanding environment on earth—the Teton Mountains—to provide our readers with honest, field-tested data.
How We Support Our Work (Affiliate Disclosure)
To maintain our independent status and pay our team of professional writers and photographers, we participate in affiliate marketing programs. When you click on a link to a retailer from our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission.
This does not cost you anything extra, and it does not influence our testing process. We only link to trusted retailers (like Patagonia, Backcountry, or REI) that we know provide quality service to the outdoor community. Our reviews are based on “Grit,” not “Volume.” If a product fails a TETON TESTED audit, we say so, regardless of affiliate status.
Human-Led vs. AI-Generated Content
In an era of AI-generated “office chair” reviews, Mountain Weekly News remains 100% human-operated. Every product mentioned on this site has been physically handled and technically vetted by a real person in the Teton backcountry or on the rugged trails of the American West.
