If I could describe the Waterproof Snowy Owl boots from Manitobah with only one word, that word would be: exquisite. I was first drawn to the stunning look of these stylish boots with their rabbit fur ankle drape, fur pompoms and Indigenous beadwork. While these boots are stunning to look at, they are equally functional.

I have been wearing these boots outside constantly for weeks in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Sun Valley, Idaho. By looking at the soft suede on the exterior of the boot, I didn’t trust them to be waterproof. However, as promised, these boots stayed dry in slushy show and watery puddles. They are also easy to slip on and off and quite comfortable. My feet stayed warm, even on days when I was outside standing on the snow for several hours. The height of the boots keeps the snow out and the soles provide grippy traction on snowy and slick surfaces.

Manitobah’s Heritage

After doing some research on the company who makes these boots, Manitobah, I also have respect for their commitment to elevating and crediting the Indigenous artists who contribute to their designs. In the case of these boots, Heather Endall. I used to live in Alaska and while there I developed an appreciation for Native culture and art. Purchasing and wearing Manitobah boots is a form of “cultural appreciation” for the Native cultures who first developed Mukluks. Specially designed for maneuverability and function in the Arctic, they were originally created by the Inuit and Yupik people.

Materials

The Snowy Owl boots are made from cowhide suede and lined with super soft, sheepskin shearing. The fluffly fur around the outside is real rabbit fur that is unbelievable soft and also functional to the warmth and waterproof features of the boots.

The craftsmanship and authentic, quality materials make the Manitobah Snowy Owl Mukluks ($250.00) functional, warm, and aesthetically stunning. These really are unmatched to any other women’s winter boot I’ve worn. The detailed beadwork is such a beautiful accent. I love the uniqueness of these boots. They are one of the highest quality winter pieces I’ve ever put my feet in. Simply put, they really are exquisite.
