Hollywood Racks 2 Bike CrossTrack E-Bike Rack Review
Brawn meets style in the CrossTrack 2 bike rack from Hollywood Racks. With a name like “Hollywood Racks” you can believe the company’s products will have characteristic Southern California flair, but strength, stability and style often co-exist uneasily. The CrossTrack 2 comes to the rescue by embodying all of these attributes in an easy to mount and user-friendly bundle.
With its strength, style and versatility, the CrossTrack 2 would look equally at home on the rear of a 1999 Ford F250 or on the latest model from Tesla, and carrying dual-suspension DH bikes or flyweight carbon road racing steeds.
How Many Bike’s Does the CrossTrack Hold?

The CrossTrack 2 is available for 1 or 2 bikes, with a maximum weight capacity of 66 lbs. per tray. This means that it’s probably not a suitable rack for many e-bikes (it also does not have a power lift function). It can accommodate all types of regular bikes, including fat bikes with up to 4” wide tires. The brilliance of the design is in the frameless capture mechanism that securely holds the front and rear wheels of any bike without contacting the bike’s frame, sparing it from paint marks or other damage.
The CrossTrack 2 is easy to set up and mount, with excellent instructions that are also available at Hollywood Racks’ website, and there are also plenty of online video tutorials. It is available in versions to fit either 1.25 or 2-inch trailer hitches. The 2-inch hitch version features Hollywood’s patented “No Wobble-No Tools” hitch tightening system. All versions feature a locking hitch pin, and security cable. The rack can be tilted down for trunk access and folded flat against the back bumper area when not in use.
Loading and Unloading Heavy Bikes

One of the features our team enjoyed the most about this bike rack from Hollywood Racks built for e-bikes was the racks ability to easily tilt backwards to the ground to help when loading. This same system makes folding the rack back up against the tailgate of your vehicle very easy and it’s one of the best systems we have tested when it comes to overall ease of use.

Keep this in mind if your have a 100+ lbs. of bikes loaded as the hinge system makes for easy on and off.

Stylish Rack When Loaded or Unloaded

The CrossTrack 2 is a sharp-looking piece of equipment that looks good even when not in use. Some of us do actually own cars whose value exceeds the value of the bikes we’re carrying, and the CrossTrack 2 does an excellent job of keeping both your car and your bikes free of damage.
Like all Hollywood racks, the CrossTrack 2 is a bit overbuilt, and I mean this in a good way: you won’t have to worry about your bikes shimmying at highway speeds or on rough roads.
About Hollywood Racks

As an American company, Hollywood has an excellent customer service department that is based stateside, easy to read instructions written in plain English (without relying solely on annoying pictographs), and plenty of other online resources to get you set up easily and on the road quickly with your bikes in secure tow.
There are so many advantages to buying and installing a rack from Hollywood that we struggle to find any reason not to recommend this rack. The retail price may be a little high for some people, but it’s well worth the investment for a well-built and smartly designed piece of equipment that may very well be the last bike rack you’ll ever have to purchase.

Overall Impression

The Hollywood Racks CrossTrack 2 ($749.99) is like a factory roof rack that comes standard with some cars: it will become an integral part of your vehicle’s function and style. You’ll leave the rack on at all times and you won’t imagine your car without it. And that really says it all.
