Artilect Shadow Canyon Shell Jacket Review
The Artilect Shadow Canyon Jacket has quickly become my go to touring jacket. The high-quality material, the minimalist design and the great color way has made this choice easy.
Design and Fit

The Artilect Shadow Canyon Jacket has a straightforward, minimalist design that is perfect for backcountry travel. The Jacket comes with three pockets an adjustable elastic waist and a helmet compatible hood. While I like my resort jackets to have more pockets and additional tech such as a powder skirt, goggle stash, etc. for ski touring and lifestyle, I prefer a no-nonsense design. A streamlined design caters to packability and lightweight construction which are crucial in the backcountry.
I am 6’1” with a slim build and I found the size medium to fit quite well. The jacket is true to size and the fit allowed for plenty of mobility.
Material and Build Quality

The Artilect Shadow Canyon Jacket is made from 40D two-way stretch nylon that has a host of awesome properties. The shell is flexible, breathable, waterproof and so far, quite durable. In addition to these properties the jacket is also very light, making it perfect for backcountry adventures. I don’t see the exact weight listed online but it feels like the lightest winter shell I own.
I took this jacket on a multi-day touring extravaganza, and it handled the elements quite well. The jacket makes for a great wind barrier and didn’t let moisture through the entire trip.
Features

This jacket comes with pit vents that go straight to the skin. The hood is helmet compatible and adjustable. The jacket comes with an adjustable waist which is great for keeping out wind and snow. The jacket also features a lifekey zipper which can track your activity. The app doesn’t seam very useful and appears to simply be a mechanism for brands to track you across platforms and send you push notifications.
