The Quiksilver Travis Rice Stretch Jacket is endorsed by T-Rice isn’t only a fashion statement, it proves to be useful as a go-to snowboard, snowmobile, and all-around winter backcountry layer.

You can end up getting lost with all the pockets on the Quiksilver Travis Rice Stretch Jacket but they are all very useful and the zippers work great once you figure them out.  The massive chest pockets are awesome for skin storage if you are doing quick laps and wanna keep them warm and easy to access.  The lower hand pockets have a removable goggle wipe that comes with the jacket or just keep it on its attached lanyard and it reaches your face.

For the colorway, the Black Forest Vibe look is something different and makes the jacket stick out in a subtle way.  I didn’t really notice the stretch of the fabric but I did notice its breathability, water resistance, warmth, and soft comfy feeling.

Jacket Fit

The Quiksilver Travis Rice Jacket does run a bit on the larger size.   I normally wear a size large in snow jackets, but the medium fit me perfectly. If you are usually a size Large go with the medium.

The only improvements I can think of, and there aren’t that many are as follows: The hood on the jacket doesn’t quite fit over my helmet, keep this in mind if you wear a helmet snowboarding.  Also, the jacket is a bit on the heavy side for backcountry hiking and splitboarding, but seems to work solid for riding lifts at the resort.

Quiksilver Travis Rice Stretch Snow Jacket Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Endorsed by T-Rice for snowboarding versatility
  • Multiple practical pockets for quick access
  • Unique Black Forest Vibe colorway

Cons:

  • Zippers can be confusing to figure out
  • Jacket runs a bit larger in size
  • Hood doesn’t fit over a helmet

Overall Impression

As a backcountry geared snowboarder like myself I did not think I would like this jacket.  However, the Quiksilver Travis Rice Stretch Jacket ($389.95) ended up winning me over. If you are a resort rider, this jacket is a great choice for you.
