Anker Prime 250W Power Bank Review
Charging personal devices like phones, Bluetooth headphones, iPads, and more has become more and more important in today’s world. Access to convenient on-the-go power is often just as important as having a stand wall charger at home, and sometimes more important.
For people who travel frequently or who have devices that wear through their batteries a little faster than average, few things are more important than having access to convenient power sources on the go.
That’s where power banks like the Anker Prime 250W Power Bank come in. Of course, not all power banks are created equal, so we decided to test this one and see how it performs and whether it delivers on the promise of convenient, easy-to-use power.
About Anker

Before we get into too much detail on the power bank itself, let’s talk about Anker. There are several different brand sunder Anker that each focus on a specific type of consumer product and solving common problems with the products in question, in addition to producing high-quality options.
Anker specifically is the brand that specializes in power banks, power stations, and other renewable off-grid, and often portable, power solutions for everyday consumers.
They have also made a variety of environmental promises and commitments, including significantly reducing the amount of plastic used in their packaging and exploring more plant-based alternatives to fossil fuels in their manufacturing processes and products.
That dual commitment to sustainable power sources and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes makes them one of the most reliable options for eco-conscious consumers who are looking for innovative new power solutions.
Anker might have only been around for the last 10 years or so, but their work in both manufacturing and R&D has helped push the power station, charging, and battery industries further.
What Is The Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank?

The Anker Prime 27,650 mAh Power Bank is designed to be a sustainable and long-lasting alternative to other power banks for mobile devices and small laptops. It’s rated to contain enough energy to fully charge a MacBook Air, and is compatible with almost all mobile devices.
This power bank contains enough energy to charge a standard iPhone 14 slightly more than 4.5 times on a single charge in the power bank.
The Anker Prime 250W Power Bank is also a fast-charging power bank, designed to replenish your devices batteries as quickly as possible while maintaining safe temperatures in both devices. The power bank itself also reaches a full charge with a standard USB-C charger in as little as 37 minutes.
Features:
Here are some of the additional features and benefits of using the Anker Prime 27,650 mAh Power Bank.
Maximum Charging Speed On Every Port: A lot of power banks and even plug-in charger bricks are designed so that only one connection uses fast charging technologies, while all the other connections use a slower charging speed.
This power bank is designed to offer the fastest possible charging speed on all outputs, making it easier than ever to keep your devices, along with friends’ and family devices, fully charged and ready to go.

Universal Compatibility: This power bank is also universally compatible with any device that can accept a USB-C or USB-A port cord. You don’t have to worry about proprietary technologies, limited charging speeds, or other problems, regardless of what devices you’re using most often.
Active Temperature Monitoring: In addition to the other features this power bank also comes with an additional safety measure that helps make sure it will last longer and also works to keep your devices safe. The power bank actively manages its own temperatures during charging, adjusting charging speeds and electrical output when needed to lower temperatures.
You still get fast charging technology, but without risking premature wear to either the power bank or the devices being charged.
Compact Energy Storage: One of Anker’s areas of concentration is providing high-quality power storage in a smaller space. Not only does making the devices smaller make them more portable and convenient, it also helps reduce the amount of plastics used and can reduce the amount of rare earth resources needed per watt hour of storage.
App Controlled Charging: One of the unique features that comes along with the Anker power bank system is that the power bank is also connected to an app on your phone or another device via Bluetooth. The range is relatively limited but gives you the ability to control charging speed and make other settings changes to improve the performance of the device overall.
Being able to customize charging to prevent over-charging and other accidental issues can help all of your rechargeable devices last longer.
Battery Percentage Display: This is one of the few weaknesses of this charging system, which is unfortunate since it’s also the feature that most users are likely to interact with most often. The charger is designed to show the percentage of battery power currently available in real-time.
Unfortunately, the display itself seems to report that the battery is 100% charged and ready to go several minutes before it actually stops drawing power from a source, making that information seem unreliable at best.
The information also seems to lag a bit behind how much of the power has actually been used as well.
Safe For Carry-On Baggage At The Airport: If you travel frequently and like to bring power banks with you on the go, chances are you’ve already encountered the problem of bringing a sizeable power bank onto airplanes.
The TSA limits the size of any power bank included in carry on luggage for safety reasons. Any acceptable power bank must contain less than 100 watt hours (Wh) of power when fully charged.
This power bank is as large as it can possibly be, while still falling under the 100 Wh maximum demanded by the TSA. At 99.54Wh, you have as much power access as possible for long flights, without breaking any rules or risking your device being confiscated and thrown out.
Who Is The Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank For?

This power bank is designed for anyone who needs to have a reliable source of power for their phone or compatible laptop, along with any other necessary devices, on the go whenever you want them.
It’s particularly useful for people who spend a lot of their time traveling, people who need a power bank they can safely bring with them on planes, and people whose phones aren’t holding a charge as well as they used to.
But, realistically, almost anyone with a smartphone or other rechargeable devices today could use this power bank and benefit from it.
Why Do You Need It?
Once upon a time going without power for a day or two was no big deal. Not having batteries or mobile devices with you when you were out and about wasn’t a cause for stress.
These days though, cell phones are some of the most important equipment you can own. A lot of the services set aside to make contacting people easier before the invention of cell phones are no longer available.
Pay phones are rare and more like artifacts that usable appliances these days. Highway patrols looking for people who got stranded on the road are fewer and farther between, meaning that you’re more likely to find yourself walking along the side of the road if something happens and you have a dead cell phone.
Even stores and other places of business are more hesitant to let patrons use their phones and may not even be able to dial an outside line at all.
That means that having a reliable source of power for your phone is just as important as the phone itself—maybe even more important!

Overall Impression

There are a lot of things to like about Anker Prime Power Bank ($179.99), and for the most part the biggest problems, like the lagging battery power display, aren’t big enough problems to get in the way of the core function of the bank.
Attention to detail, with the smaller more compact design, multiple outputs, fast charging, and airplane compatibility all help make this power bank stand out from the crowd.
Is if the absolute best power bank on the market? Probably not. But, it’s pretty easily in the top few portable chargers.
Anker power banks are well-known for their reliability!
James,

The photos used in the article all show the Anker powercore 24k 140w power bank, not the new Prime 27k 240w.
I don’t believe the prime 27k has ever actually been available, my pre-order is continually delayed.
I have been waiting for months for my Anker Prime 27,650 power bank to be shipped from Anker. Did something happen and Anker is not going to produce this model?
Randy,
I think the release date got pushed back, I’m loving mine. I will reach out to the brand contact we have and follow up.
