Danner Recurve Hunting Boots Review
There are few truly great institutions left in this beautiful country and Danner, with a century making rugged boots that seamlessly move from style to adventure, has fulfilled that promise with its Recurve 7” Hunting Boot. I’m talking rugged, classic leather styling that looks as good on the streets as it does in the wild.
You don’t need clunky footwear when your style shows you’re the kind of man who doesn’t need to overcompensate to be tough. When you’re a real boss, you want gear that delivers high-performance utility without looking like a concrete-block work boot. This balancing act between classic aesthetic and field-ready durability is exactly why this model has earned a secure spot on our master index of the best cold weather hunting boots for this season and many to come.
Danner Construction

Maybe you recognize the name: Recurve is a bow, and at that a traditional bow from before hunters used compound bows to make the draw easier while amplifying power. The recurve is still used by people learning, and traditionalists. That’s what Danner’s all about — traditionalism while getting the job done.
The Recurve is different from most outdoor boots because of its leather outer and design hide a super technical outdoor adventure foot covering. There’s a full-grain leather and nylon upper but with Danner Dry waterproof protection so they’re impervious to the wet. But their comfort is just as next-level thanks to the cushioning open-cell OrthoLite footbed and the Vibram SPE midsole. There’s also a nylon shank for more weather-fighting, plus a TPU heel frame to deliver extra support and stability, with a Vibram Recurve outsole with Megagrip tech to grip better than almost any boot out there.

So next-level outdoor tech, classic styling, and durable materials? The Danner Recurve 7” sounds like a decent boot but what are they really like?
How Do The Danner Recurve Boots Fit?

I had one problem with the Danner Recurve: when I got my boots, I thought they were too pretty to ruin. Really. These looked like the kind of boots I wear when I take my lady dancing, which I did, spending a couple summer nights spinning and dipping in fields and at honky tonks. Yeah, I wore the Danner Recurve everywhere we were social, from the music festival to the wedding pre-party. They were the most comfortable boots I wore from the box. Literally, they felt like clouds on my feet.
One thing I gotta say above all: These Danner Recurves felt like putting on a pair of cushioned clouds straight out of the box. But the performance — man, that’s one of a kind. To feel like slippers when you’re hiking in the mountains, that’s the dream. So I also took them out on some hikes and a hunt.
The boots are soft cushy leather but still respond quickly to hard, side to side and uneven movements. The Vibram soles held tightly on rock, even after trudging through mud and wet ground. And my feet stayed warm and dry on a cold, early fall upland bird hunt in rain that turned to snow up high. I’m still blown away by how warm and grippy the Danner Recurves were while the style complements anything I wear and yet how comfortable they are for long nights on the dance floor or at the pub with my people.

Overall Impression

Danner Recurve: For Rugged Wet Days and Stylish Long Nights. The Danner Recurve’s ($299.99) a perfect boot for long, rough days in the woods and fun fiery nights under the beams of the pub or the grand moon. And the outer, while for all intents is timeless leather, repels whatever weather the sky, river and earth can throw at you. Classic fashion and unbeatable performance, just the recurve bow itself that the boots are named after.
This is a real outdoorsman’s boot, a real hunter’s boot, from a company that’s been doing it for a century. But it’s also a real stylish boot that looks good no matter what good times and mischief you’re getting into. The Danner Recurve is the perfect quiver-killing boot for however you choose to get down.
