The e-bike industry is going on a rampage, creating more powerful two-wheeled beasts with dual motors and giant batteries. The new Euybike S4 Pro Max is the latest evolution with its front and rear hub motors and maximalist design. Such a potent package means the e-bike is guaranteed fun, but how does it compare to other models? I recently completed testing in the Tetons to see what the Euybike S4 Pro Max is all about.

Dual Motor E-Bike

The biggest highlight of the Euybike S4 Pro Max is its dual 1000W hub motors, which essentially give this moped-style electric bike all-wheel drive. Riders can toggle through ride modes to engage one of the two motors or cruise with both activated for ultimate hill climbing and top speed. There’s pedal assist, but, like many of the models in this category, it’s most fun and comfortable to ride in throttle mode.

The S4 Pro Max is an upgrade to the standard Euybike s4 moped-style fat tire electric bike model including a torque sensor and improved rear shock. This dual-motor e-bike reminded me of the Meelod DK300 Max that I recently tested. Both are designed for robust street riding with some off-road capabilities. And this model’s 30+ mph top speed is plenty quick to keep up with cars in traffic.

Front and Rear Suspension

The souped-up S4 Pro Max features a full suspension setup to soak up road buzz and off-road vibrations. The dual-crown fork is a heavy-duty component that matches the model’s rugged build. The Max has an upgraded rear air shock with improved adjustability for rebound and compression settings. Combined with the high-volume tires and comfortable bench seat, the e-bike was a very cushy ride all around town.

30+ Top Speed

Dual motors deserve a second mention. The pair of 1000W hub motors peak at 1500W and produce a maximum torque of 96 Nm for some serious oomph. As with the rival Meelod model, riders can switch between ride modes to change when motors are activated. I suggest riding in rear-motor mode to save battery and enter turbo mode (both motors) when you really want to fly.

Acceleration is fast thanks to the small-diameter wheels and powerful motors, and I clocked speeds over 30 mph during testing. The throttle is a half-twist design and uses a tiered approach depending on which pedal assist you have selected, especially giving you different levels of cruise control. The torque sensor is a major upgrade on the original S4 Pro Model that helps with smoother acceleration and power delivery.

Battery Capacity

Large E-Bike Battery

I’ve seen many electric bikes, but a whopping 1820 Wh battery shocks even me. The ultra-large battery sits squarely inside the middle of the frame and works fairly well as a design element, in addition to providing some serious firepower. Euybike estimates it has an 80-mile range, but you’re likely to get significantly less using throttle mode. The 2-amp charger means it will take a long time to bring the bike back up to 100%, but that’s to be expected for such a massive battery pack.

Weight

The S4 Pro Max nearly breaks the 100 lbs. mark, weighing in at 96 lbs. That high number didn’t surprise me given the full suspension setup, giant battery, and double motors. The upshot is that the e-bike has plenty of power to push along the heavy parts. It’s still a lot of bike to move around while riding but I found it completely manageable. This model has a more premium-feeling bench seat that can comfortably fit a rear passenger if you want to really load up the S4 Pro Max.

An electric bike with dual motors is going to need high-performance brakes to come to a controlled stop. The S4 Pro Max’s Logan hydraulic brakes do just that thanks to their 4-piston design and massive 203mm rotors. The Shimano Tourney 7-speed gearing was underwhelming but I wasn’t expecting a nicer drivetrain on an e-bike that feels better in throttle mode. The ratios are slightly under-geared, and the SiS shifter feels (and is) outdated. The Kenda 20 x 4” fat tires are stable and feature medium knobs for all-season traction.

Technology

Although the e-bike has a touch of classic motorcycle flair, there is plenty of modern tech integrated into the two-wheeler. The full-color display was impressive, featuring a USB port and a bright screen. I especially enjoyed the cute cyclist icon that indicated which motor mode you are in. There is a large headlight and front bullet light turn signals.

The most fun detail is the “disco” brake light. It functions as a normal red taillight with arrow-shaped turn signals but can also enter into various funky modes with wild colors and flashing lights. I’ve never seen that feature before, but I’m all for boosting safety and having a party on two wheels.

Euybike S4 Pro Max Electric Bike — Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Upgraded components: New torque sensor and comfortable seat make a difference
  • Party-time lights: The color-changing rear light is fun and practical

Cons

  • Heavy e-bike: As expected, this 96 lbs. bike is a lot to handle

Verdict

The Euybike S4 Pro Max E-Bike ($1,899.99) impresses with dual 1000W motors, full suspension, and a massive battery. It’s an all-around fun ride that’ll satisfy even the quickest speed demons looking for power and pace. It’s currently priced at $1,899, making it a standout for throttle-loving riders. The S4 Pro Max may be too much bike for me, but if you can handle it, grab this beast by the horns.

Sorry, no prices available at this time.
