The Puckipuppy Corgi is a compact full-suspension e-bike striving to win best-in-show. Named after a petite dog breed with a huge fanbase, this versatile e-bike delivers a surprising amount of performance in a small package at a competitive price. Once you get over the slightly cringe-worthy brand name, keep reading this in-depth review to determine if the Corgi electric bike is man’s new best friend or just another breed in the ever-growing e-bike pack.

E-Bike with Great Control
The Handling on the Corgi E-Bike with it’s Shorter Frame Size is Incredible. Here is Mike Hardaker Enjoying the Feeling of Riding This Bike | Photo Connor Burkesmith Mountain Weekly News

Compact Full Suspension E-Bike

The Corgi isn’t the most conventional electric bike out there— it embraces a full-squish setup with a compact frame, shorter wheelbase, and small wheels. This delicate balance of big suspension and smaller parts can be difficult for manufacturers to get right. Common pitfalls include excessive weight, cramped riding position, and messy aesthetic but Puckipuppy largely steers clear of those potential cons. The bike’s agile setup makes for great handling that’s plenty capable thanks to its more rugged add-ons.

It’s hard to squarely place the Corgi into a specific e-bike category, but I’d say that it’s best suited for daily commuting and off-road detours. The small 20” wheels prevent it from performing more like a mountain bike while the fat tires and full suspension setup provide an ultra-comfortable ride across town. During testing, I took notice of the super smooth ride feel on paved roads and bumpier, less-than-perfect riding surfaces.

Full-Suspension

The Corgi doubles down on comfort and control, complete with a short-travel suspension fork and rear shock. I am often critical of full-suspension setups on fat-tire electric bikes given the shock absorption capabilities already provided by the wide tires, but the rear shock here doesn’t mess with the sleek frame design nor add too much weight. Don’t expect to send trail descents or rock gardens, but the Corgi can float over potholes and hop curbs better than most city-oriented bikes.

28 MPH Top Speed

The Corgi gets its zoomies from a powerful 750W rear hub motor with pedal-assist levels and a throttle mode. The e-bike arrives with Class 2 speed settings maxing out at 20 mph but can be easily unlocked to the 28 mph top speed. The cadence sensor isn’t as responsive as a higher-quality torque sensor but delivers reliable and quick acceleration. The control pad on the left side of the handlebars is neat and easy to use when toggling through assist levels, turning on the headlight, and honking the cute but effective electric horn. The thumb throttle is located on the right side next to the shifter.

Battery Capacity

The long-range 20Ah battery sits inside the Corgi’s beefed-up downtube and can provide between 40 to 80 miles on a single charge. The battery loads into the frame along the underside of the downtube which can often be a finicky process, but the smaller-diameter wheels mean there’s plenty of room for easy removal and off-bike charging. The battery is UL-certified according to higher safety standards which is a must-have for me these days, especially with so many new, unknown manufacturers flocking to the market. One downside is the less powerful 2-amp charger that’ll lead to slightly longer charging times.

Weight

The entire bike weighs 70 lbs. including the battery. This is a decent weigh-in for an e-bike with fat tires and full suspension but definitely isn’t a lightweight city hybrid. The maximum payload capacity is 400 lbs. so you can load the bike with a large front basket with no problem. The Cargo is a step-thru model that’s recommended for riders between 5’2” to 6’3”. Some people will feel that the bike is too small, but I found the ride sufficiently comfortable with tons of sporty flair. Keep in mind that the rear end doesn’t seem to be designed for a rear rack or extra passenger seat cushion like other cargo e-bikes.

The Corgi’s top componentry highlight is probably the hydraulic disc brakes that deliver powerful stopping in all conditions. The 20” wheels are matched with knobby 4” fat tires that run at low pressures to cushion every outing. This Puckipuppy model is available with either spoked wheels or solid mag wheels, with each version coming in two distinct colorways. I’ve been complaining about this low-quality part for years, but I’d like to see e-bikes do away with the 7-speed SiS shifters for good— they get the job done but detract from the higher-tech details on the rest of the bike.

The bright, full-color LCD screen looks great and shows a creative layout of all your favorite ride metrics. The display is mounted at the center of the bike’s BMX-style riser handlebars and seems to be the same one used on Mokwheel’s last few bikes, too. There’s an integrated headlight but no taillight or automatic red brake light. It’s worth noting too that there’s currently a generous accessory package on offer that includes a lock, helmet, cover, phone mount, and more with the price of the bike.

Puckipuppy Corgi Electric Bike — Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Compact Frame: Shorter wheelbase and step-thru frame for great and nimble handling
  • Long Range: 20Ah integrated battery with 40-80 miles of range.
  • Powerful Motor: Rear hub 750W motor with a top speed of 28 mph.
  • Full Suspension: Ultra-comfortable ride with dual suspension and fat tires.
  • Hydraulic Disc Brakes: Deliver strong stopping power for a heavy, pedal-assisted bike.

Cons:

  • Outdated Shifter: Traditional Shimano SiS 7-speed shifter.
  • Only 7 Speeds: Can lead to ghost pedaling at higher speeds.
  • For Medium/Small Riders: The compact frame may feel too small for tall riders.

Whether you’re a cat person or dog lover, it’s easy to be convinced of the Puckipuppi Corgi— well, as long as you can look past the truly odd brand name and animal-based marketing. As an electric bike, the Corgi is right on trend with the recent surge of fat tire e-bikes tricked out with versatile parts and sleek tech. The smooth and nimble ride feel made me think this e-bike should cost nearly twice as much, but interested riders can pick one up for just ($1,199). Corgis aren’t just for Instagram memes and cute videos— this fun e-bike makes for a great companion all year long.

Sorry, no prices available at this time.
