Sound Fun Mirai Speaker Review
When I first met the folks at Sound Fun during CES in Las Vegas, their Mirai Speaker caught my attention straight away. At the Mountain Weekly News we love products that deliver simplicity and efficiency – both in the gear we test and in our daily lives.
So, when Sound Fun introduced the Mirai Speaker, I had to put it through the paces to see if it lived up to the claims of easy setup and ability to enhance TV sound and even dialogue.
What Is the Mirai Speaker?
The Mirai Speaker is designed to make TV sound and especially dialogue clearer without needing to blast the volume. If you’ve ever found yourself constantly adjusting the TV volume or needing to turn on subtitles to follow what’s going on, this one’s for you – especially if you struggle with hearing dialogue among background noise.
The Mirai Speaker’s innovation lies in its AudibleWave Technology. This tech serves to enhance the clarity of spoken words while toning down background noise, making it a great fit for those with hearing difficulties.
Effortless Setup: Plug and Play
We’ve tested plenty of gear over the years, and a big part of the product review process is how quickly we can get a product up and running. With the Mirai Speaker, the setup couldn’t be easier.
It’s a straightforward plug-and-play system, and I love the fact that it comes equipped with both an optical cable and an AUX cable. I was able to easily connect it to my TV’s optical port, which I found to provide the best sound quality.
There’s no need for complex menus or figuring out Wi-Fi connections. You just plug it in, dial in your preferred audio level via the control panel, and you’re off to the races.
I especially appreciate how light and compact the unit is. Its small size makes it a nice addition to any home entertainment setup without taking up much space. It also blends well into most setups thanks to its modern, minimalist design.
First Impressions: Dialogue Like Never Before
I’m used to testing gear that helps me experience the outdoors in new ways – like binoculars that allow me to see far-off locations with exceptional clarity, avalanche gear to keep me safe and everything needed for pursuits in the outdoors.
Testing the Mirai Speaker offered a different kind of clarity, albeit one that’s just as important if you enjoy a good movie or show after a long day outside. The focus on dialogue is apparent right from the start.
As soon as I hooked it up, I could tell a noticeable difference in the delivery of dialogue. Speech came through sharply, effectively cutting through background noise. This was done in a way that I’ve not heard from other soundbars. The difference is on another level.
So, to put it to the test, I played some TV shows and movies that were pretty heavy in the dialogue department. Even during scenes with intense background music or sound effects, I was able to hear every word without needing to turn up the volume to uncomfortable levels.
AudibleWave Technology: What’s It All About?

The AudibleWave Technology behind the Mirai Speaker is really what sets it apart. This tech focuses on mid-range frequencies – the sweet spot where human voices are most audible.
And in doing so, it makes speech clearer while letting other sounds take a backseat. I also need to mention the curved speaker design. This clever design choice helps direct sound in a way that feels immersive without needing a subwoofer or additional components. It’s a matter of clarity rather than sheer volume.
For outdoor enthusiasts like us, this approach feels similar to using gear that’s designed for a specific purpose, like a GPS watch that’s built for backcountry skiing.
Pros & Cons

I’ve always aimed to provide honest reviews, and that means talking about what’s great and what’s not-so-great about any given product. So here’s what I loved and what I thought could be improved with the Mirai Speaker:
Pros:
- Super Easy Setup: If you can plug in a power cable, you can set up the Mirai Speaker. No complicated manuals or app downloads required.
- Design That Fits: The sleek, modern design means it doesn’t look out of place next to a high-end TV or a rustic cabin setup.
- Effective for Those with Hearing Loss: The emphasis on dialogue makes this a great choice for anyone who struggles with hearing TV shows clearly, especially older family members.
Cons:
- Not for Audiophiles: If you’re someone who loves deep bass and a rich, layered sound, the Mirai Speaker might not be for you. It’s all about clarity, which can feel like it comes at the expense of fullness.
- Limited Input Options: While the optical and AUX options make setup simple, it would be nice to see Bluetooth connectivity for more flexibility.
It’s hard for me to fault the Mirai Speaker, as it’s not really designed for audiophiles. But it would have been nice to see more input options, for sure. Still, what you’re getting makes it worth the price of admission in my book.
Overall Impression

For outdoor adventurers like us at Mountain Weekly News, sometimes it’s nice to wind down with a good movie after a day in the elements, and the Mirai Speaker makes that experience a little more enjoyable – especially if you’ve been out in the wind and snow all day and your ears aren’t as sharp as they used to be.
So, if you’re looking for a straightforward solution to improve your TV-watching experience, and especially if you or a loved one needs that extra clarity in dialogue, the Mirai Speaker ($299.99) might be just what you’re looking for. It’s easy to set up, it looks great in any space, and it does one thing really well: making sure you hear every word.
