One of the most important pieces of gear when backcountry riding is a backpack. Let’s face it, backcountry skiing demands a lot from your backpack. I was long overdue for a better pack and the Kresta 30 made me wish I upgraded my backpack sooner. After putting the Osprey Kresta 30 through multiple ski days in Jackson, WY, I can confidently say it delivers on all fronts.

Comfort and Fit

The Kresta 30 is fit for a queen (of the mountains). I was blown away by how comfortable it was for all types of skiing. I used it at the resort for skiing side country, boot packing the headwall at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and backcountry skiing. With gender specific sizing, my pack was noticeably designed for women’s physiques. The adjustable suspension system has a contoured hip belt and shoulder straps that can create the perfect fit and keep the weight centered and comfortable throughout the day. Even loaded with essentials, the pack felt balanced and hugged my body comfortably.

Organization

Osprey doesn’t skimp on features. With this backpack you have the option to go for A-frame ski carry or a diagonal ski carry. Organization in a backpack is essential for both safety and efficiency. The pockets are designed thoughtfully on the Kresta 30. The back panel access keeps snow out while you grab buried layers, and the avalanche safety compartment provides a dedicated space for your shovel, probe, and then you should always be wearing an avalanche beacon. The helmet net keeps your helmet secure during the climb, and the insulated hydration sleeve ensures your precious water supply stays thawed.

Durability

The Kresta 30 isn’t just about comfort and features; it’s built to be tough. The durable materials withstood the inevitable nicks and scrapes of a day in the backcountry, and the water-resistant coating shrugged off the elements

Osprey Kresta 30L Backpack Pros & Cons

Pros:
