Firstly,

The best thing about the Manitobah Tipi Suede Moccasins is that it directly supports the Indigenous community.  Manitoba was founded in Winnipeg in 1997. Per Manitobah’s website: “By Purchasing from us, you are participating in cultural appreciation, not cultural appropriation.  When you purchase from Manitobah, you are directly supporting Indigenous people and celebrating Indigenous culture in an authentic, meaningful way that supports us in our vision to create positive impact in Indigenous communities”

Sustainable Ethical Wear

In a world where we can choose how we consume, supporting Manitobah and their commitment to the Indigenous community is a direct way to effect the supply chain in a positive fashion.  Every moccasin is hand made which holds the spirit of the land and the teachings passed down through generations. Not only is it a great product but what you’re supporting is even greater.

Manitobah takes the utmost care in where they source and how they use sustainable materials.  They choose materials that reflect their respect for the land, connection to traditional practices and their unwavering commitment to sustainability.  For example, they utilize materials such as fur and leather that are by-products of the food industry thus helping to cut down on waste and honor the life cycle of the animal.

They only work with factories that pass stringent third party certifications which ensures they can exercise a certain level of protection for both people and the earth. The manufacturing partner was carefully selected to ensure they’re Indigenous-owned and family run with many years of experience in Vietnam.

When you look at all the pro’s and con’s of the Tipi Suede Moccasin it’s hard not to see all the value encapsulated in this product.  Let’s start with the pro’s of this amazing product.

Winter Comfort + Rabbit Fur

The Maontiobah Tipi Suede Moccasins are ridiculously comfortable; they’re fleece lined so your toes and feet will be comfortable, toasty and looked after through the entirety of the winter. It’s no surprise that these moccasins are routinely one of the top sellers in their category year after year. The collar of the moccasin is lined with Rabbit fur which is incredibly soft on the skin and truly refreshing.

For the fit, they’re flexible and stretchy ultimately stretching almost a full size over the lifetime of the product. They form nicely to the shape of your foot over time. The fleece lining, Rabbit collar and suede outer are all extremely soft thus eliciting an insulating/comforting feel.

It is recommended to size down half a size to accommodate the leather breaking in and stretching out.

But, their beauty for the value.  Consumers are extremely pleased with this product as far as the value you’re getting for the price you’re having to pay is top tier! Between the Rabbit fur collar and beadwork these truly are a statement piece.

A standout feature was the warmth factor is high! If you prefer to not have to wear socks around the house, this moccasin is a superior alternative.  Between the fleece lining and Rabbit fur collar, the Tipi cowhide suede moccasin has your feet covered. While this is a positive for most some have expressed that the product can be too warm.  That being said, most consumers of moccasins know this factor about themselves so they can operate accordingly as far as matching their running body temperatures to the proper Moccasin product.

Durability

Looking at some of the con’s of the Tipi Moccasin it was tough to find any so lets first look to the fur trim on the moccasin which can create a wear spot. The reason behind this being that the consistent pressure and friction on one’s foot and ankle sliding in and out which causes deteriorating over time. Like any product, the more you wear them the chance of them wearing out goes up.

Due to having a leather bottom, one must be mindful of staying indoors and avoiding going outside as the leather is delicate and will show wear far quicker if used in this way.  If you desire to wear outside in all conditions then it’s probably best to opt for a different model with a hard sole such as the, Manitobah Traveler Moccasin which has a Crepe sole or one of our favorites we tested before, learn more in our Manitobah Mesa Winter Boot Review which has a rubber sole or the Street Moccasin which also has a rubber sole but fits slightly narrower to produce a more form fitting fit.

Lastly, a con to consider is the leather sole bottom can produce a slip, sliding, away feeling on hardwood floors.  If you’ re one that is prone to being clumsy then its definitely worth taking into consideration before buying this product. All the above said, with proper care, these Manitobah Moccasins will hold up and satisfy your feet for years to come.

In short, the Manitobah Tipi Suede Moccasin are warm, comfortable, flexible and strikingly gorgeous.  As someone that is very particular of what I choose to put on may feet, I could not be happier with this product and the overall comfort it possesses.  Looking at some of the con’s which are minimal but something to consider are that the moccasins are too warm and susceptible to sole wear.

Knowing you’re supporting such a worthy cause makes one feel good about consuming this product.  Nothing but praise for Manitobah and the mission that they’re on to honor Indigenous culture and uplift such a special community.
