Jones Snowboards is a company I have always loved, and deeply respect so when I got the call to test out the Dream Weaver 151 from their women’s line, I was stoked. Jones has a dedication to the earth that is inspiring and deserves honorary mention, and support.

The Dream Weaver is a directional women’s snowboard built upon a camber to rocker profile. Here in the tetons, we get lots of powder, so having a directional board is definitely my choice for a daily driver. The low taper design is great for an all mountain board, giving it a responsive feel on piste, but it still has enough taper for a wide nose feel and float in the powder.

This board is versatile and forgiving. It is an awesome option for intermediate riders looking to get a bit more dialed into their own riding style.

Flex

On the flex scale, this board is rated 2/5, but to me it felt pretty stiff. There is no standard rating for flex, each company has their own scale, so it’s good to note that Jones boards tend to be stiffer boards. I tested this board late in the season, when powder was few and far between. Classic spring feels, we had an icy morning on piste, followed by slushy turns later in the day. Although I would have loved to get some time floating in powder on this board, I still feel like I got a good idea of what I was tapping into, and it just left me craving more!

How’s it Ride?

This board is smooth and responsive! The medium traction tech on the edge was super helpful in the morning with icy conditions, and gave me enough grab that I wasn’t skidding out or sliding around too much. I don’t love traction tech (this is the serrated knife effect some edges have to help you grip on ice), but these grooves in the edge slid under the radar pretty well.

When the groovy edges are too aggressive, I feel like it can get in the way of my turns feeling super smooth and sometimes create a rippled feel in my riding. I really like how the medium traction tech from Jones felt like the right balance of grip and flow allowing for a good amount of traction while initiating turns on icy terrain.

I love the rooted tree design! It feels so aligned with Jones as a company which I love, and as a tree hugger myself, I am stoked on the graphic. My one quarrel with the top sheet, is that white can be at it tricky to maintain. After just a few days out, I’ve got some scuff marks on it that will likely stick around. I always like to think, my board is a tool not a jewel, but having a clean board definitely feels great!

Jones Snowboards Ethos

This board is made with responsibly harvested wood, recycled edges, recycled ABS sidewalls and bio based epoxy made with 27% plant based carbon to help reduce emissions by 33%. Not to mention 1% of all sales are donated to 1% for the Planet. Those specs alone draw me in and get me excited about playing responsibly in the mountains.

The Jones Dreamweaver Snowboard ($529.95) is capable of handling well in a variety of conditions. An all mountain shredder, for sure, and an awesome step up for intermediate riders to advance on to. For $529.95, I feel like you are getting exactly what you are paying for, a diverse and impressive board that will last! I would recommend this board to someone looking to have a daily driver that can handle what the mountain has to offer, and is looking to step up to the next level of riding!
