Choosing a women’s splitboard shouldn’t be about finding a “smaller, lighter” version of a men’s deck. It’s about finding a technical tool designed for the specific center of gravity, flex requirements, and boot sizes of female riders. During a time when more women than ever are taking the leap into the backcountry to find community and push their limits, having the right gear underfoot is the difference between empowerment and a sufferfest.

I’m Isabelle Wellman, a professional performance coach and instructor, and along with Level III Avalanche Pro Mike Hardaker, we’ve spent seasons testing these boards in the demanding backcountry across the west. From deep powder laps on Teton Pass to icy dawn patrols, we didn’t just “ride” these boards—we vetted them for efficiency and performance. Our updated guide to the 5 best women’s splitboards features hard-charging, spirited decks that meet you at your current skill level and take you further.

Top 5 Women’s Splitboards

Jones Women’s Stratos Splitboard

(Best for Advanced Freeriders)

The Greek origin of the word “Stratos” means army- and the Jones 2024 award winning Stratos splitboard is just that. Whether you’re chasing pow as a backcountry snowboarder, into the freestyle game or embarking on your next uphill ascent in the early, icy hours of the morning, the Stratos will not retreat in difficult conditions.

One of the most versatile freeride splitboards from Jones is built for women ready to turn their split boarding up a notch would benefit from this lively and hard charging design. Although this is a mid-stiff board, the 3D contour base 3.0 highlights a 7mm spoon bevel at the nose and tail, making us rave over the effortless and speedy turn initiations. The directional, tapered shape generates force while simultaneously giving you the ultimate control for surfing, jumping, and slashing.

Whether you’re a young gun or an 88-year-old local legend like our friend Frank, the right board flex ensures you’re still having fun at the end of a 5-mile tour.

Jones has two great perks on top of their sustainable production process; first, each board comes tuned and ready to ride. Second, all you have to do is mount your bindings, put on skins, and you’re ready to rip. To help you get outside faster, each splitboard can be fitted with pre-cut skins that match the edge contours. Having pre-cut skins is a game changer; it’s like preparing for battle. You wouldn’t want your army suited up in ill-fitting armor. Instead, dress the Stratos Split with the tailor made skins for gateway performance.

The Jones Stratos splitboard is a tactical machine ready to go further and progress each rider to perform better.

Voile Womens Splitboard

Voile Women’s Revelator Splitboard

(Best Lightweight Alpine Tool)

Handmade in Utah, the Voile Revelator splitboard is here to transcend the quality of your current quiver. Being ultralight and the longest standing splitboard in the Voile line-up, this all-mountain, early rise camber board will take your level of riding from contained to berserk.

Early rise camber makes this board wide at the nose to keep you cruising on top of the pow, extremely balanced underfoot so you can edge at high velocity, and a flat, hard tail for reliability over chunder. Common among this overall splitboard line up is an anti-ice top sheet layer, helping wet and heavy snow slide off. Two carbon-weave components stiffen the flex while a Paulownia wood core maintains its levity, especially important for the uphill adventure.

The Voile channel puck binding system is extremely sweet- in a matter of moments you can adjust the angles on both the toe or heel. This quick binding adjustment system will help you ride exactly how you like no matter what terrain you find yourself in. This splitboard varies in dimensions at the waist in both the 149cm and 154cm in order to maintain a consistent ride.

If you’re looking for an ally in steep and long backcountry endeavors, take a chance on the Voile women’s Revelator splitboard. Its colorful and mountainous top sheet graphic will induce revelations on where to adventure next.

Sizes: 149cm, 154cm

Pallas Women’s Epiphany Splitboard

Pallas Epiphany Splitboard

(Best for All-Mountain Progression)

When looking for a splitboard, regardless if it’s your first or your fifth, it’s important to find a board that can develop alongside your skill set. A board that will readily respond how you need it to when you need it to is crucial, especially when you muster the courage to rip a steep couloir or practice your backcountry freestyle skills.

The Epiphany splitboard is the only split in this line up with a blunt nose, supporting each rider in defying whatever conditions lay before them with this unique tip and tail. I find the following tapered nose to tail cut efficient for float, edge transitions, and the camber underfoot a standard to create cohesion between split and snow on less than ideal conditions.

Their Backcountry Basics Construction decorates each splitboard with a textured top sheet to shed snow, bright bases, flat touring camber that secures you to the skin track, the option to slightly setback your binding stance, and Spark hardware. Board length options come in 147cm, 151cm, and 155cm.

The Pallas Women’s Epiphany splitboard is an all mountain, directional board that isn’t afraid to land hard or ride switch. This board is a medium flex, giving you a solid support system that isn’t afraid to be playful on your way down. If you’re looking for a splitboard to serve you for years down the road as you grow, the Epiphany will be your knight in shining armor.

Sizes: 147cm, 151cm, 155cm

Coalition Snow Women’s Sojourner Splitboard

Coalition Snow Sojourner Splitboard

(Best Freestyle Design)

Another great women’s owned company, sadly they stopped making this board.

We (clap) love (clap) women (clap) owned and operated (clap) companies! Especially women in the extreme sport industry. Creating snowy waves and changing the social norm is what Coalition, and their Sojourner Splitboard is all about.

I’ll be the first to address this- the Sojourner 100% dominates and takes home the best top sheet artwork in this line up (by Christina Armetta). On the underside a completely black, 7500 sintered base equally accelerates you up and down the mountain. Having the design of a scooped nose, offset stance, and swallow tail isn’t only sassy, but it also helps you stick with a familiar size splitboard compared to your resort daily driver.

Coalition’s camber profile includes a nose rocker of 306cm, a rise of 45mm, and tail rocker at 287cm with a rise of 15mm, allowing you to hover above the snow on the deepest of days, preventing you from a tragic nose dive. The narrow waist ensures your maneuverability uphill is seamless, and FSC certified bamboo core enhances the boards swift response. This board ultimately serves you with a playful yet strong, lightweight and functional experience.

Find the perfect dimensions for your body type with their 143cm, 148cm, or 154cm options. As a smaller human at roughly ~ 5’2”, I’ve found that a splitboard that is similar to my resort board gives me a boost of assurance, and I always feel more inclined to get sendy vs on a longer board I have less control of.

This board is on her best behavior in the trees, on long and fast lines, and will be superior over chunddery snow conditions you may meet along the way to the G-spot. It’s time to grab your rowdiest gal pals and set off on your next big journey with Coalitions Sojourner Splitboard. We like that the brand also makes skis & snowboards specially for women.

Weston Women's Splitboard Seeker Snowboard

Weston Women’s Seeker Splitboard

(Best for Backcountry Beginners)

Although is no longer for sale this board was a great addition to the womens splitboard scene.

We all know a seeker- a friend, family member, or dare we admit the reflection we see looking back at us in the mirror. Inevitably, we are all powder seekers after our first taste, and every seeker deserves a burly, yet light splitboard built to pursue their deepest days.

The Weston Women’s Seeker splitboard is an all mountain board that easily floats in powder, created for endless turns and fast riding in open terrain, perfect for backcountry beginners and intermediates. What makes this ride float with precision is the camber dominant design. Weston utilized camber underfoot, increasing stability at high speeds, a long reverse camber nose for slicing through feet of freshies or variable conditions, and a 40mm setback stance to aid in maintaining edge control.

Weston continues to create high quality boards that are durable yet affordable offering a responsive ride. Using 100% poplar wood composition, strong ABS sidewalls, and black sintered bases, you’ll be stealthy and cost-effective if tending to any future core-shots. You can find this board in a 149cm or 153cm, with pre-cut skins created by Weston for an ideal fit.

All in all, the Weston women’s Seeker splitboard will help new riders get in tune with the way of the backcountry while helping them progress in all types of snowpack.

Sizes: 149cm, 153cm

Skins: Weston Approach Skins Size 1 ($234.95)

Nimble vs. Burly: Choosing the Right Volume

We recently had an excellent question from a reader named Hazel regarding the balance between “nimble” and “burly” boards. This hits on a crucial point for your backcountry setup: choosing the right volume. While a shorter, more nimble board like the Arbor Veda is tempting for maneuvering through tight trees, we almost always recommend the “Teton Standard”—sizing up 2-3cm from your resort daily driver.

In the deep, untracked powder of the Tetons and Togwotee Pass, surface area is your best friend. Sizing up provides the critical float needed to stay on top of the snowpack rather than trenching in and losing momentum. Beyond the descent, those extra centimeters provide more skin-to-snow contact, which is the difference between a confident grip and sliding backward on a steep, icy skin track. Even on a board designed for maneuverability, that slight increase in length ensures your tool is actually capable of handling the high-stakes reality of big mountain terrain.

The Recap

If you’re looking for a tactical machine to progress your riding, the Jones Stratos is tough to beat. For those just starting their backcountry journey, the Weston Seeker offers the most forgiving entry point. Ready to build out your full setup? Hi! Thanks for the great reviews. I’m an experienced splitboarder living on Vancouver Island in BC. In the past I rode a Prior Kyber split 156 with Spark R’n’D, currently I’m riding a 154 Capita NeoSlasher split with Union Expedition bindings. I’m 5’6, 145lbs. I’m a strong rider but these boards are just too burly for me. I can’t ride them like I do my resort boards – currently a 156 Capita Outer Space Living. I’d like something a bit lighter, more nimble, and women specific. It’s also important that it preforms well on the skin track as Vancouver Island terrain means lots of skinning to get to the goods! I’m feeling drawn to the Arbour Veda and the Arbour Swoon Rocker. Any advice? And, any other recommendations are appreciated.

      Hazel,

Thanks for the comment. The Veda is going to tour a little better and has a more directional shape, where’s the Swoon Rocker is a little more freestyle oriented twin shape. What size resort board do you normally ride? Usually I recommend to size up 2-3cm.
