The Sweet Protection Switcher Helmet is the winner of Outside Magazine’s “Gear of the Year”, and I was stoked to try it for myself. The best companies are started out of necessity for proper gear by enthusiasts themselves. Travel back to Norway in 1988, from river kayaking to skateboarding, Sweet Protection has been creating superior protection and inspiring people to push their limits for decades.
Sweet Protection Switcher MIPS
The Switcher is also equipped with MIPS to reduce rotational force on the brain. Helmets are an interesting piece of gear because you don’t really use them daily, but when you need them, they can save your life. Sweet protection set out to design the ultimate hybrid helmet. They used a unique combination of softer in-mold and hard-shell protection to offer superior rigidity and elasticity according to the biometrics of the noggin. Even more, are the impact shields designed to distribute impact force and shock absorbance.
Combine all that with 20 vents controlled with a single turn equals protection, comfort, and style.
I really enjoyed wearing this snowboard helmet riding on the slopes. It was a snug fit and perfectly adjustable with the turn dial adjuster in the back, as well as the magnetic chin strap. The Sweet Protection Switcher Helmet ($219.95) is even wired for tunes with their audio ready system. It was nice to be able to easily dump heat after a run and then close the vents while back on the chair. Definitely a good feeling knowing you are wearing a Sweet Protection Helmet.
