I’ve experimented with many of the multisport watches out there, but I have been waiting to get my hands on a Coros. Between their stacked athlete team and the buzz I’ve been hearing, I couldn’t be more excited to test out the Coros Apex 2 Pro. This watch is a true gem, offering a blend of performance, durability, and innovative features. I’ve put this watch through its paces and here’s what I’ve observed.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro boasts a sleek and robust design with a high-quality build that can withstand the wear and tear of adventure. The titanium alloy bezel is both durable and elegant and the sapphire glass screen is ridiculously tough. I wasn’t sure if I would like the nylon band but after trying it out, I’m a fan. The Velcro strap makes adjustments easier and more precise then any watch I’ve tried. The nylon material also seams to dry instantly, and I’ve had no issues with a “soggy watchband”.

Performance

It’s no secret why Coros has an ever more dominant athlete team and why I’ve seen more people switch to Coros than any other watch brand: performance. The Coros Apex 2 Pro is one of Coros’s top models and it truly shines in terms of performance. I tested out the GPS in one of the most challenging scenarios, a ski tour through trees, along ridgelines and surrounded by steep terrain. The route recorded by the watch was spot on; no doubling back and no noise in the data.

This is likely due to the watches ability to simultaneously connect to 5 satellite systems in dual frequency and the built in barometric altimeter. In addition to the watch’s superior GPS ability, it also tracks all of the health metrics you could want, making it a great tool for health tracking and recovery. For a full list I recommend checking out the Coros website.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro also comes with maps preloaded. This could literally be a lifesaver. The app allows you to create routes that will then be reflected on your watch. This is an extraordinary feature, especially for longer more technical days where proper navigation is critical.

Display and User Interface

The Coros Apex 2 Pro has been upgraded to a 1.3-inch touchscreen display which I found to be clear and easily readable, even in direct sunlight. I made sure to try this watch out without looking up any instructions. The interface is quite intuitive although I would recommend watching a quick tutorial to fully understand what this watch is capable of – it’s a lot. The watch has 3 buttons, one of which doubles as a scrolling wheel which I am a big fan of.

The Coros app is neatly organized and intuitive to navigate. You can also customize your watch from the app to decide how things are organized, the activities widgets, and more. For those who want a fully tailored experience this watch is for you.

Battery Life

One of the standout features of the Coros Apex 2 Pro or any Coros, is its impressive battery life. Coros out competes any watch brand in battery life. The Apex 2 Pro lasts 30 days with daily use and lasts 75 hours with standard full gps. Do you want to run for three days straight and track every second of it? Well now you can with the Coros Apex 2 Pro. I also found the charging to be lightning fast. Rather then charge this watch overnight, I simply plug it in while I get ready in the morning and the watch will have a full charge by the I leave.

Smart Features

Although I’m not a fan of receiving notifications from my watch, the Apex 2 Pro integrates smart features, allowing you to receive notifications, and sync data with the Coros app. I opted to turn off all notifications, but I have found the synchronization between the watch and the app work quite well. While you can download music directly to your watch for phoneless listening, you can’t control the music playing on your phone from your watch. Hopefully an update can fix this.

Coros Apex 2 Pro Watch Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Durable design with titanium alloy bezel
  • Superior performance with GPS accuracy
  • Easy-to-read display and intuitive user interface

Cons:

  • Nylon band may not suit everyone
  • Smart features could use more customization
  • No music control from phone to watch
