Looking for an easy way to clear snow from your deck or smaller driveways this winter? Enter the ENHULK 20V 12-Inch Cordless Snow Shovel.  I was sent a couple of these new cordless snow shovels to test in the 12″ version and 13″ version and was able to put them to real world testing after our first measurable snowfall here in Jackson, WY.

Traditional snow shovels are what you would expect, typically metal blade and wooden handles. These have been how people cleared snow for centuries. Then the corded snow shovels started hitting the market allowing for a mechanized snow shovel that was powered by electricity. And then those large shovels become battery powered and the price jumped up considerably. For instance the popular EGO Power models start around $2,000.

This is where the ENHULK Snow Shovel comes into play. It’s battery powered, and propelled by you pushing the plow across fresh snow. The battery powered option allows you to avoid tangled cords, and keep in mind if shoveling over long distances you will need really long extension cords.

One of the reasons I dig this system is the ability to easily swap batteries, and if you find yourself in the market for a leaf blower or chainsaw these same batteries from ENHULK will work with those tools.

How Does the Shovel Work?

Using Snow Shovel on Grass

I tested the shovel after a 4-6″ overnight snowfall on my front deck, on my grass to clear a path, my larger deck and even some of my driveway. The shovel worked well on the smaller deck and quickly cleared snow with a single pass.

What I did notice was on my wooden deck where there were screws in the decking if the screws were not all the way in place the ENHULK would catch the screws and stop me in my place, same for uneven wooden planks.

But on flat surfaces the shovel easily pushed snow and made for less work and effort than traditional shoveling.

One of the near features of this shovel is the ability to throw snow in 3 different directions. This helps if trying to avoid putting extra snow on your vehicles or against the side of your home. The knob is easy to operate and I found myself changing snow direction 2-3 times when using the shovel.

What can be Improved?

I would love to see actually wheels on this system, it would make it quicker and easier to plow over longer distances. And at 5’11 I felt the shovel was a bit on the short side and would love to see an additional foot or two to avoid having to lean over as much.

You can see in the photos I really had to lean into the machine to make it work, which for shorter people would be great. Anyone over 6′ might not enjoy it as much.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  1. Convenience and Efficiency: The ENHULK cordless snow shovel offers a significant improvement over traditional shoveling for clearing smaller areas like decks and patios. Its battery-powered design eliminates the hassle of cords, and it efficiently removes snow with minimal effort on flat surfaces. The ability to direct snow in three different directions adds to its practicality.

  2. Cost-Effective: Priced under $200, it’s considerably cheaper than other battery-powered snow removal options on the market, making it a more accessible choice for homeowners. The shared battery system with other ENHULK tools is also a plus for those already invested in the brand’s ecosystem.

Cons:

  1. Limitations on Uneven Surfaces: The shovel struggles with uneven surfaces or obstacles like screws in decking. Its effectiveness is significantly reduced on anything other than relatively smooth, flat ground.

  2. Ergonomics: The handle length may be unsuitable for taller individuals, requiring more bending over than desired. The lack of wheels limits its effectiveness for larger areas or longer distances.

Cordless Snow Shovel vs Traditional Shovel

At under $200 the ENHULK Snow Shovel in 12″ and the 13″ models are a great way to help clear your decks this winter. Keep a traditional shovel on hand, but these are great in a pinch. Fun to use, safe, and the entire family can easily be trained on how to use this within minutes.
